Hey Wayne - aren't there some nice freshwater springs near Chipley? Seems like I've been there before but I couldn't swear to it - would have to pull out my old dive log - remember snorkeling at Ponce De Leon - is that near you? - -Carl

Carl,
Yes Ponce De Leon (named after the famed conquistador who searched for the Fountain of Youth) is about 20 minutes from here and I just finished a sign which is going to be placed near there.

This whole area is honeycombed with caverns and springs. Ones I can think of off the top of my head are Blue Springs, Ponce De Leon Springs, Vortex Springs and divers come from all over to dive in some of them. Falling Waters State park is just outside of Chipley and has a fairly impressive waterfall which cascades down into a deep sinkhole which goes into a network of springs and caverns. The park is riddled with caverns. Florida Caverns State Park is about 20 minutes from here and they have cave tours there.
