Boy what a end to the day, after whipping out a nice magnetic that was split down the middle to sit either side of the doors on the back of a ford excursion. I ran them over to the customer who was in her garden watering her plants ,i said take a look at these on the truck laid them up to the door and they curled up and fell on the ground in a pile of dust. "what the hell i exclaimed" yup the dreaded aluminum door panel, dosn't matter that ford used 20 tons of steel in the rest of the vehicle but decided to save weight on the back doors I now have to make some new mags for the customer and feel like a bloody idiot when i deliver them again. i have only had this happen once before on a pontiac mini van. so a scrap of magnetic now resides in my briefcase for testing all surfaces. What is tomorrow going to bring.

Sorry about your situation, Simon. A lot of the newer vehicles have panels, hoods & tailgates made of plastic, aluminum & fiberglass. And some even have a ton of bondo. It might be a good policy to do a test when you take the measurements. I know I will. Cheers
