I'm looking for a source for aluminum laminate material such as brushed aluminum (approx .063)that can be adhered to pvc and then cut to shape. Chem metal and Nevamar brands say their products are not recommended for outdoors. Anyone know of a source for this material and what is the best adhesive to use. Thanks.

Jean,
This may or may not help but you can make your own with a belt sander. Works well, just sand in one direction only.

Not all of the Chem metal products are laminate, some are just metal. #427G #420G #440G #442G #443G #444 are all brushed aluminum only. (Ask them for a sample ring on their web site takes about 4 weeks to arrive.) They have interior tested their products is all, but there are people using them outside too. You can west system epoxy them on. I would try the suggestion of making your own brushed aluminum on scraps of econolite which is just bare aluminum on the back, if that works, then sheets of econlite will be way cheaper. good luck! brian

You can call a supplier in your area that handles aluminum and ask if they have prefinished products in the gauge you speak of! Our main supplier is a company called Alliance metals...I am sure they have a distributor down there!. They are based in PA. If you have no luck in finding a source for 4 x 8 sheets, you can call a supplier of trophy materials. The one locally we use is ID Nameplates in Dallas. They sell 025 stock in a very unusual variety of colors but sizes normally do not exceed 1 x 2's
Phone Alliance 214-445-2033 ID Nameplates 972-216-1616
and I think NGLANTZ is national and they sell it 214-634-0700
We use 040 brushed aluminum anytime we are creating a laminate letter product and we do tons of it so our method of applying the aluminum to all substrates is the spray on laminate from nevamar for cabinet surface adhesion. It holds very well outside.
We laminate anything to anything with it...The only product we do not suggest is plex to (gator)foam for exterior use!
Hope this all helps!....finally an area that I can actually answer!...LOL
We will be demonstrating this at our meet!...along with some very helpful hints on how to easily cut them on a 350.00 bandsaw!..We find that 80% of our work can be cut out quicker on the bandsaw than what it takes to set the router up!...and I know for a fact that at least 1.5m worth of product has been cut on one saw alone!

this isn't exactly what you asked for, but Dibond now comes in a brushed aluminum finish. it is already laminated to 3mm or 5mm plastic core, so you don't have to do it yourself. the "back" side is white enameled aluminum i think.
