This (KLEEZ virus) is certainly reeping havock on multitudes of people, not just in our country !! [Confused]

I am no computor whizz, so I will pose my idea, you guys toss it around and see if its dooable ! [Roll Eyes]

OK, this thing comes to us by e-mail from a contact (friend, foe, relative, associate,) does not matter who or how we ended up in someones E-MAIL ADDRESS BOOK, it only matters that we are there !!

Ok, I guess that means this virus will NOT end untill it runs out of e-mail addresses, right ??

And we all know, that is not gonna happen !!

How about we (people everywhere who are internet connected) decide on a time and date, and all DELETE our own e-mail address books ??

Will we have to send out our own "good virus" to get this message to all people connected ??

We could PRINT a hard copy before deleeting, then re-enter the old fashoned way (the safe way) this would certainly cut off the viruses food supply? wouldn't it ?? And give us a clean address book again!! [Smile]

lets hear some responces or ideas !!

Sick of this crap !!

Roger

Sounds like a good plan Roger..BUT you won't get a single person to do it, IMHO.

Personally, I use Eudora as an e-mail client and I don't have a single name in my address book. All the folks/friends/relatives that I send e-mail to, I know their addy's by memory and all the rest I just go to the message they sent me and copy/paste their addy into a new message if I want to send them something.

The best News I heard was about 6 months Ago!

Create a (AAA Address File) in front of everyone elses.

Worms will dwell in it and go no were from your mailing list... (Delete after your are infected.)

Set up New Address (AAAA Address File)

It's not something to worry about.

Just put the ropes around it first........

Quickest way to end a virus is to have everyone you know get an anti-virus program installed, and keep it updated !!!!

Right on Si..

Last thing we need is a blind-leading-the-blind merry-go-round .. no offence meant Roger.

Bottom line, buy or get the best antivirus programs (and I do mean plural) and update them daily , if you have cable or dsl a firewall with antivirus capability is not an accessory, it's a necessity.

Sorry, I just don't see a bury your head in the sand until problem blows over response as a solution to this very serious situation, what's the next step; unplug everything until the virii disappear ??

BTW thats KLEZ, reaping, computer, doable, fashioned, deleting, responses... [Wink]

Yeah, see, I had Norton auto update, but that didn't stop it.

It went in, shut off my norton program then would not allow me to turn it back on !!

Hey Si, Ha ha ha ha ha
I take that back, its not very funny ! [Roll Eyes]

Now my question goes to the MAC users, someone is telling me to send back this new p.c. and get a new I-MAC ??
Says the mac is less subject to virus penetration ??

Well ? lets hear it from the MAC PAC.

Roger [Confused]

Yes Roger, the Mac will be much less succeptible to viruses.

...but then, so isn't a blender.

what i want some "virus maker" to do is make a resident virus for everyones computer....that is harmless unless activated by recipt of an email which contains a virus...then this resident virus is set in action but only ATTACKS the end user or the one who sent the virus in the begining...sort of an elvis virus, RETURN TO SENDER......HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE

Hi Roger,

Nice to see you back! geting thru my gallon of RT here! Have you heard anything from Enviro??

I too have Norton Family 2002, at home and at work, it seems to have got Klez everytime. Are you sure that you have updated regularly, I have sometimes forgotten to go in and download the latest updates, or perhaps if you go into your options and see that everything that needs to be enabled is enabled, so that you really are protected.....sounds like something is not quite right if you have NAV 2002 and still have got the virus.

Hi all!
I downloaded a Klez removal tool and found that my computer does not have it, although it has been sent to me, our service provider's antivirus caught it for us.
As I understand it, the software I have on one of our computers, VE LXi, confilicts with antivirus programs. The computer that came with the program installed had the antivirus disconnected, shot, removed, tied-up, orphaned or something, oh, now I remember, disabled.
It has also been explained to me that the virus not only hooks up to the addresses in your phone book, but makes up its own as well! I don't know if that's true, but that's what our service provider explained to me.

Hey, Mr. Spelling teacher.... yeah! As a child when I wrote my aunt, she'd write back to me correctly spelling the words I misspelled, using them in sentences. I wish she were alive today so I could write her and get some help with my spelling! Personally I think that's awesome. This is truly a teaching site!

Wishing you all a great week end!
