We are looking at opening up a website. Who do you use to host your site and what does it cost? Is there anything I should be looking for or should stay away from?
Thanks Dave

We have our own hosting services, as well as offering many other web related services. $15.00/mo. or $10.00/mo. if paid annually in advance. We would be happy to help you in any way. www.wiseguyswebmedia.com Posted by David Kilgore (Member # 110) on :
Also I've been looking at the Godaddy.com site where I listed the domain name. They charge either $10.00 or $13.00 a month to host, depending on the package you want.
Thanks Mike and Shawn I will look at both of these.

This is an excerpt from something else that I have been working on. Maybe something here will be beneficial to you, then again, maybe not. If nothing else, perhaps for future reference. This is FAR from being an all inclusive checklist.
Do you want to be on your own server or let that responsibility up to someone else. If someone elses, some things for consideration
Physical security in additional to electronic security. Is the server located within a restricted and secured area? What type of fire protection for not only the server room, but entire building? Security of incoming pipes? Security of remote site(s)? Security of power backups?
Redundancy in power supply, multiple backbones, and at least one mirrored (backup) site(s)?
Data backups no less than every 24 hours, preferred every 12
Any guaranty of uptime and what comps if that number is not reached.
24/7 phone support and network monitoring. If there is a problem I want to be able to scream at someone.
Complete statistical logs, formatted or raw data.
E-commerce capable with shopping cart and SSL support; online CC processing including shipping lookup tables
Support PHP, Pearl, CGI, cgi-bin, ASP, SSI, SQL
Virtual FTP with sub accounts
Sub-domains allowable
Web Mail / POP3 with auto responder, alias, and forwarding support

i've dealt with large e-com sites and little dinky web projects (like my home page). i use doteasy.com for my CoyoteSigns.com web page. the sign-up process was a little tough at first, but once you're signed in the rest is very clear.
i'm very happy with their services -- and it really is free. if all you want is basic web hosting and email, it works, and there are no "pop-ups", banners ads, or any of the other crap.
if you follow this link, you'll be able to sign up for free, and they'll also pay me $5 for the "referral": (i call that "win-win") doteasy.com

Thanks Bruce. .I love my 426, but if you're shopping right now you might want to wait a few months and see if Yamaha is going to unveil the 450. They are going to have to get lighter, and make a 450 to compete in the marketing game with the honda 450. Thanks for checking out my site too. Ever use Rapid Tac products on a motorcycle graphic? ( have to keep some company motive in the post when I'm on company time! lol)
