Where can you get Bon Ami? I have had no luck here in the deep south finding it. As the before posts, use Rapid Prep, I see a lot of sign people still using alcohol, I guess they haven't figured out that it don't cut wax or in the case of most work trucks, grease.

John, if you can't find it in Kroger, look in a cheap grocery store or a dollar store.

Curious.....is Rapid Prep similar to Prep Sol, which also removes wax, etc? Never used Rapid Prep.....what's it all about? Thanks.

Hi Todd,

Not sure about the chemical similarities of the two products, but Prep-Sol (brand name) has a bad habit of leaving a residue behind. When I have used Prep-Sol, I follow with a wash of water and Comet, and a final water rinse.

Hope this helps.

Todd...Rapid Prep is one of the line of Rapid products like Rapid Tac and Rapid Remover. It is not petroleum based Like Prepsol and Pre-Kleeno.

Having a background in auto body repair and painting, I always swore by Prepsol, and it worked fine for prepping prior to painting. I also used to use it to prep vehicles for vinyl application. I never had a failure using Prepsol.

However, last year my wife got a small amount of paint damage on her 1 month old car and I had to repaint the bumper. I did everything as usual including the prepping with Prepsol. But I had this funny feeling about what was on the surface even after 2 or 3 swipes with the Prepsol (the paper towel was still feelng like it was sliding over a slippery surface). So I got thinking about the sample bottle of Rapid Prep that Roger Bailey had sent me and did an extra wipe with it. VOILA!!!! That time I could feel the paper towel "dragging" on the surface so I knew that it was now free of wax.

Since then I use Rapid Prep for my vehicle preps.

(Disclaimer...I have nothing to do with Rapid products...I don't get paid by them..I am just a fan of their line-up of products...Even though I rarely do wet applications [Smile] [Smile] )
