I'm trying to force myself to go to a 4 day week. Anybody doing this?

NOPE!!!! I like my 7 day work weeks. I find that 3 or 4 hrs a day is just perfect for a 7 day work week schedule.

That said...I am thinking I might have to hire a helper next week..Seems I have to gear up to about 6 or 7 hrs a day...But what the heck..it is only for a week! Naw..I'll stand the pressure and do it all by myself. Maybe I'll take a long weekend after next week's work is done! (Canada joke!)

I've worked 4 day work weeks at couple of differnt places and it's great...like having a 3 day vacation every week.

Best part is you can schedule up things like doctor appointments on your day off and not loose work time.Or any thing else you want to do.

Since I work alone now there isn't much choice but to work all 5 days... all day long.

The places I worked made a split in talent...the office crew worked monday thru thursday and the shop crew worked tuesday thru friday...that way the shop was open 5 days a week but still only worked 4 days.It was a great program...we all worked 4 ten hour days and with the shop crew working on friday...if there was an emergency or an overlaod of work they could carry the work over to saturday.

I tried to get the wife to work this schedule out once but she didn't buy into it.If I ever get another "real" job I'll look for "4 tens".

I've been closing at 1:00 on fridays for a few years now. It's great! I don't miss the last minute crap that seems to only come in friday afternoon. No serious jobs ever seem to start on Friday and I never wait for sombody to do their running around before they pick up their sign. No problem.

as a one man signshop, my regular customers know if they must drop by my shop, the best time is between the hours of 8:30 am til 2:00 pm.
that is 4 days a week.(even though i suggest calling first.)

on fridays i schedule surveying new sign projects and material gathering.(sometimes i go to the house and do yard work! it ain't no fun. [Wink]

my "good" customers know that i will be back in touch within 2 hours of leaving a message on my answering service.(i don't have a cell phone because most of the time i have my hands full with the sign job and i don't want to be bothered.)

whatever works for you.

mark

(i have been known to pull a few 12 hour days when demand warrants it.)

I'd like to have enough work to fill four full days.

I like Cheryl's plan. She said she works every other day. So that's Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Cheryl? Good deal!
