Hey all, I think somebody on here has the klez virus, because I keep getting klez-sent e-mails to my letterhead account address. I'm guessing alot of you others are as well.

Even if you think you don't have it, you might as well take a second to download the free cleaner, and check for/delete the virus:
klez removal download from download.com

By the way, if you get an e-mail that says it has the klez removal application attached, don't open it.

Shane,
I don't think it's just one person here, I got 15 !infected emails over the weekend , and no one from this board a emailed me. Bob

Bob,

Absolutely, I'm guessing it's possibly quite a few people. But from what I understand, klez sends out aLOT of e-mails.

Anyway, please do check to see if you're infected everyone.

By the way,

Make sure you update your system at the Windows Update website. Part of the problem is that there was a security hole in older versions of outlook that would load the virus onto your system even if you only previewed it. You don't even have to open the attachment to be infected if your system has not been updated.

Had the same thing happen to me over the weekend. It came in with a "questionnaire" that had an attachment. I forget the name of the sender-- something like steffen, and it was my only e-mail all weekend. Norton a/v caught it and quarantined it , so I was able to get rid of it.

What a pain!!!

Hmm nasty little virus, I got 10 Emails in one day from several "From" none of anyone I knew, so I looked at the properties and low and behold if the virus doesnt pick email addies out of the email programs address book. to see who it actualy came from look at the properties and the message source Mine all came from two friends that I have here , although all ten of the emails had diffrent from addresses... this is a nasty little virus, but you can go to Symantec.com and learn more about it...

I've gotten it 3 times. One was from "Hostmaster"

I guess Norton got it & quarantined it, cause when I do a virus scan, it comes out clean.

Joe...open Norton Anti-virus, and click on "Quarantine Contents"...it will show anything that is in quarantine. Simply Highlite the items and click on the "X" at the top. Then it will ask if you want to delete them....click yes!

Hey Gang,

I feel lucky, as I am only receiving 1 to 2 e-mails with the virus attachment a day.

That must be some sort of record - Joey, BTW, you wrote that you took care of it, does that mean you don't receive any more e-mails with the virus attachment?

I have checked properties on a couple of them, and have seen a members e-mail address that I recognize. (Sent them an e-mail, to inform said party)

Both McAfee and PC-cillen gave me a clean bill of health.

Sure hope this annoyance stops soon!

Bruce
