I STATED WITH NETSCAPE AND I'M USED TO IT, BUT LATELY I BELIEVE THE MICROSOFT CIA HAS SNEAKED IN THE BACK DOOR OF MY 'PUTER, AND MADE NETSCAPE DAMN NEAR NON-FUNCTIONABLE. SOMETIMES I CAN'T GET PAST THE FIRST PAGE ON THE BB....SOMETIMES IT CRASHES MY SYSTEM WHEN I LOG OUT. IF I USE EXPLORER, EVERYTHING WORKS, AND TWICE AS FAST!
ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE SIMILAR DILEMMAS?

I used to use Netscape, but it's been a long time.I frequent a couple of graphic and web-design newsgroups and the consensus from those is that IE is simply a superior product (regardless of Microsofts other products/business dealings), and Netscape simply hasn't kept up. Lots of the web designers complain alot about having to design things to work on NS.
They say alot of good things about a browser called Opera.
I guess this is just heresay though since I don't really use NS.

Hi Bob,

I used to really like Netscape, and had to practically be pried away to use IE. I haven't looked back.

Now with our web design business, we have fits with the quirks in Netscape. It's really been falling short.

I've heard rumours that AOL bought out Netscape.
Don't know it as truth though.

BOB
I used to like Netscape better as it was faster. But then I started getting alot of errors and freezes. So now I am back to only using IE.
hey......HAVE A NICE DAY!

Ditto to what Nettie said. IE is far superior. When you design webpages that work flawlessly in IE there is always some stupid little thing that doesn't look right or messes up in Netscape. According to my websites visitor statistics 94% of my visitors us IE4 or higher. So when I do my pages I don't even worry about the Netscape users anymore!

I'M GLAD IT'S NOT JUST ME! GUESS I'LL HAVE TO MIGRATE TO IE. GREAT TIPS FROM A BEAUTIFUL TRIO OF LADIES....YOU,TOO GLENN!

I use both Netscape and IE. When reading the BB, IE seems to work better. When trying to view HeadTV, IE doesn't work on my puter!

I normally use Netscape for browsing, but have IE set to open on the BB.

Werks fer me!

Netscape 6 is well known to have some issues. It does not support certain components used on newer web pages.

If you all are interested in a really good web browswer.. Look at one called Opera. There is a free version and a paid version. I use the free version all the time.. Paid versions have been getting one free upgrade with a discounted secodn upgrade.

http://www.opera.com/

Opra is a good one. VERY fast & accurate.. Opera used to have issues when JAVA became popular add ons to web pages,, But now they added JAVA support and is considered to be a superior browser.

Amy, your sight is very nice. I have to agree, IE sure works much better with the newer web design tools. You have to LOVE Dreamweaver. I don't have 4.0 yet, ( 3.0 here) but I have to as since I'm not a design expert, how did you create the portfolio image page? Is that Fireworks and Dreamweaver Layers?

Looks great thats for sure.

My site (MotoView.com) is still an infant, and I do notice that it's not as nice in Netscape either. The rollovers don't work the same, and I just don't care for the way it loads.

Anyway, your site looks very good Amy.

I can't stand Netscape.. and it really pains me to say that IE is a superior web browser (slightly Anti-MS here).. but it's true. IE just supports more features and functions much better... it's still a piece of crap though (Hey, it's still a MS product). [Smile]

Only 5% of all web users actually use Netscape, and even less use Opera, so I've stopped worrying about them when developing my website.

Now, if only there was a way to make everyone upgrade to IE 6 so they can see some of the cooler features I've added to my site lately. [Smile]

Speaking of which.. check out this page on my site.. it's not public yet but it's functional.. roll the mouse over the chrome buttons and you should see some flame patterns appear.. click on the button for that page and a smaller window will appear where you can see more detailed versions of the patterns. http://stickerpimp.com/graphics/flames/

Please disregard this as I am doing it using Netscape! I'm sure this won't post or you will not be able to read it or it will take an hour to load in IE. I refuse to use one more Bill Gates piece of software than I have too!!

LOL! Steve

Mike...checked out that page with Netscape 4.51.....werks great on the rollovers!

Die hard Netscape fan here since 2.?. Currently using 4.79. After reading the reviews, I decided not to upgrade to 6. Sure it crashes while browsing here but I'm sorta anti-Microcrap too.
Yes, netscape was bought out by AOL and the browser hasn't been the same since.
If you want to tune up your browser check out http://www.browsertune.com. You can compare IE and Netscape to see what one works better on your computer.
Havin' fun,

I have WinXP on my PC, and Netscape was just BBOOOGGGIIINNNGGG down...my salesman recommended I trash my ISP's software (sympatico) as this program didn't like WinXP or wasn't compatible, and use XP's connection wizard to dial up. Now it's fine (as fine as dial-up can be- 3.25 Kb/sec on average when downloading zips- zzzzz). I was just told by a guy yesterday that NS itself is not a great bunkmate with XP, either...

I have a little bit of the anti-huge-corporation sentiment in my blood, too, but IE has been working fine. XP doesn't like some of my video games, but maybe that's a message to leave the darn thang alone...and make some friends.

Gees Bob, it's hard to admit that Mr. Gates has done anything wonderful but I.E. is much better than Netscape on the Mac too!

Just dumped NETSCAPE for good! I've had enough!
Long live BILL GATES....the lousy bastard!
