What do you guy's prefer to use an old fashioned ball mouse or an optic mouse for graphics, what about the wireless ones. I'm kinda thinking that the old fashioned ones are more steady on the screen. I just switched all 3 of our Grahics stations to optic, but personally I don't know if I like it or not. It seems when you zoom in real close the curser "Jumps" around sometimes.

I have used all three, Optical, Rollerball (old fashioned type) and cordless Optical. Stay away from the cordless. They can be quirky, and react abruptly plus, you do have to put batteries in them.
I have used a wired Optical on my system since Microsoft introduced their "IntelliEye". I love it...would never go back to a lint and dirt collecting rollerball style. I don't have a bit of problem with jumping cursors, and this is a first generation Optical...the new ones are even better.
My Optical is dead accurate and never needs cleaning...what more could a guy or gal want? The old roller type skipped all the time, even when the ball was clean.....you know, wouldn't make perfect contact with a perfect surface or whatever. My opinion.

Love my optical (corded) ... will never go back to the ball. The big test was playing Ed Hunter (Iron Maiden soot-em-up game), got past more levels because the optical is dead accurate ... even zipping around fast to shoot the bad guys.

Take your optical back Neil. I had that problem with one as well. I exchanged it for a $4.99 optical that Fry's had on sale and it works perfect.

By the way Neil, I didn't notice what brand you had....but I'd stick with Mircorsoft or Logitech. Brand names, both of which I own and they work very nicely.

We recently got a couple GE opticals here. We connected them using the ps2 adapter first, but they jumped like crazy. We switched it to the USB and it cleared right up. Very happy with it.

I've just bought the Microsoft cordless optical. i've had it for just about ten days now and I'm really impressed with it.

Neil, get the midnight blue IBM brand OPtical mouse.. it's so ergonomic, your hand just drapes over it so nicely and naturally it's like it belongs there! Also the scroll wheel on the top of it glows bright blue, looks really killer!
Check your desktop surface if your mouse is skitzofrenic. If there are cuts, pits, bumps etc on it, it will cause the mouse to jump around.
