ok here it is guys, I am at a impass, I have tried all I knew.

here is the problems. I have Corel 10 and 8

I go to save a file - 50/50 chance it IFCs(illegal Function Call)
I stretch a certain font a certain way it IFCs
I save it for ver 8 in Ver 10 and IFC's when I open it in Corel 8
In Corel 10 the files I create and save for version 8 cant be opened in FlexiSign6 but if I creat it in Corel 8 it opens fine in Flexi
the IFC when I save is the same in both programs.

I have even reinstalled them both and it doesnt fix it

the standard questions have to be asked...
whats the puter your using?
what o/s are u runing?
how have you got the program setup (workspace)
have you installed the patches for 10?

i run 10 n 9, only keep 9 in for the plt export to the cnc router (10 suxs at it even with the updated filters)

Try saving your files as version 7 or 5.

I guess a little enfo on the system and set ups will help.

I have a Celeron 400 Mhz machine running windows 98. I have 256 megs ram and 30 gig hard drive. no patches I dont ever use the patches. I dont like 10 at all but I use it, 8 is my favorite,
the workspace is just set up normal with a few quick buttons ie change case zoom bar.

another thing is that most of the problems surfaced after the installation of corel 10, and some of these issues arize when using older 8 files I did while ago. cant get rid of 10 until i go back and resave about 6 months worth of work.

hope this helps Email me if you need more info,

Benji,
Do yourself a favor. Download the patches! Patches are created to correct know errors.

If you are crashing with only the one font, maybe it is corrupt. Try converting to curves and see if you still get the error.

ok...corel loads each version into its own directory, but it uses the newsest file in the windows/systems to run both programs. this is your problem. had same experiance when i was runnin corel 4 and then installed 5, it trashed all the 4 settings. this is why i now only run one version of corel on any of my computers. your now offically running corel 10, 8 is running off the 10 files in window. 2 choices, d/l the 10 patches or wipe the h/d and start all over again.

I use Corel 8 and always convert to curves first.

Benji,

I had many of the same problems with Corel 10 when I first installed it. You need to download and install patches 1 and 2. Its the only way you are going to solve the problem with version 10 if you want to continue using it.

If I'm not mistaken, you can contact Corel and have them send you a CD of the patches, but they are going to charge you a fee.

as to the specific problems, glen said it all

If the old one works why fix it?
if you dont really "NEED" the up grade then dont get it and save your self the cash and the pain in the neck of working out the new bugs loading and learning the new program. Im not one for having to have the newest thing thats out on the market, sometimes the older one work just as well with out all the fancey new stuff that you prob. not need or would use. these companys offten make upgrades so that you think you have to buy it.they want you to think new is allways better just so they can sell you one more thing to make them money
remember also..... time=money
