Thank you so much everyone for your input on the logo!! I REALLY appreciate it. Here is the final logo with minor changes. I wanted to do the inc. at the end of "collision center", but the customer wanted the whole word. See Donna's post on the portfolio page, she did it the way I had it at first. I thinned the "Southland" a bit and reduced the length of "incorporated". Looks much better to me now. I went back and forth about the secondary copy being slanted and just decided to leave it as is (for today anyway, it may change tomorrow), may lighten the font also, the more I look at Donna's idea, the more I like it. For David and anyone else that wondered, this will be done in color; truck lettering, courtesy car lettering, signs, business cards, and black and white for letterhead. Background for all of it is going to be red, any input on color ideas is greatly appreciated also. Thanks again!

Mike,

Italics is a tool to catch the eye. To have a flag leaning back is one direction, slant on the script, yet another. The sub copy in a third slant yanks the readers eyes around in a frenzy.

This may sound like nonsense to you, sorry, but every sign we design gives a subliminal image to the clients. If they see the sign and get a confused, no particular set direction kinda feel from it, they may pass by your client.

An established look gives a more secure feeling to the signage impaired and allows them to spend their money more freely without a gut-tugging "I don't know what it is" feeling that would have them move on to the next ad.

I hope this does not sound like a tounge-lashing. Just trying to explain the process a bit. If your client makes money, you'll make money. <grin> That's why we gather and share tricks and tips. So we can all make money!

(Well, there is that pesky fettish we have for a sweet design and craftmanship hehehe!)

Oops, my bad, didn't realize there were several threads on the subject, but reading through, a lot of interesting dynamics came into play! I love this learning stuff!
