A friend is shipping me the gas tank from his motorcycle to paint.

Other than (obviously) emptying it out thoroughly and letting it air out till all the fumes have evaporated.....any other advice on shipping this that I should know?

Thanks
A:)

Let it dry out, and ship without lid. Pack in an oversize box with at least 4 to 6 inches of clearance, in all directions. Wad newpaper up to take up the voids. Double box if you want extra insurance. You can now drop it from a plane... On return, add a nice soft cloth against your paint job and repeat. Dispite the plane drop survival, it may still get damaged by some of the idiots in the shippin perfeshon.

I have had a couple BAD experiances with "dried out fuel tanks".

A., be VERY VERY carefull, there seems to be "fumes" that don't go away, even after long "dry out period" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don;t know about shiping, maybe considered haz./maybe not ??

Adrienne

Have him perg it out at the local shop.

Then like Jack stated newspaper wadeing plus the expession (I found a peanut!)
And do leave the cap off.
Pack around with styrofoam peanuts in areas that are loose.
