Yes Ian, I have used it and apart from the price I have found it to be very good so far as sticking goes but it has absolutely no body to it. I had to write a surf club rubber dinghy and it was the only paint that would stick well enough and be flexible as well. I had to go over the copy about 4 times though to get enough body in it. I believe it is very good for airbrush work but I have never tried it.

Hi Ian
Black covers OK, though colours require more than one coat. Make sure you scuff the banner as per instructions, or even more firmly. Have had it come up with a mask. Also, if you drip a bit it can be difficult of get off without staining. One shot is more forgiving.

All the above comments are valid! I have yet to find a water based Banner paint that really sticks and covers. Problem is ... if you get it too thick it cracks off. Mask and spray seems to help but the stuff is s..t to spray and the reducer is as costly as the paint. Not only that .. once you put the reducer in it, it won't keep! Like a 2 pack... goes gluey!

I do all my banners/tents/taut liners in lacquor based screen printing inks ... brushed or mask and spray. Yer can't beat it for durability or price.

PS: If you get a spill on a vinyl banner ... paint, tautflex or even ink ... Viponds Vinyl Prep is magic!!! Cleans it off without destroying the banner surface gloss.

i wrote heaps about tautair
and then i lost it all cause i was doing 16things at once [Smile]

so now that im back ill break it down

i lov tautair

i use it everyday

i dont brush viponds unless i have too

i add thickener to the tautair to brush cause it works heaps better than adjusting clear in the tautflex

every banner, wheel cover etc gets tautair and viponds clear over (just to even out the gloss)

every sign gets 2pak over to do the same thing and make em look pretty [Smile]

it covers in one hit (when ya spray it)
masked or freehand... and here's a picture!

hehehe

cheers

For the vinyl inflatables I paint, I use FlexArt.
It is a great waterbased paint for all types of vinyl. It comes in two thicknesses; a thin mix for spraying (airbrush or HVLP) or lettering (use Mack waterbase brushes), and a thick formula for roller use or brushing large areas. I think their website is flexartcoatings.com
It also works great for making black vinyl snowmobile and cycle seats look new!

our paint rep (automotive not sign paints) comes in to my shop every 2 weeks and paints his shoes [Smile]

he hates the fact that his nice black shoes get rotton cause he's in and outa panel beaters all day long and so he gives em a quick coat of black tautair one a fortnight to keep em looking great!
hehehe

when it first started i thought he was having a lend of me, i'd never have thought about doing sumfin like that

but then i thought, one of the things ive always laughed about is that when ever devo gets a new pair of shoes he seems to end up spraying red in the first day or so of wearing em... so of course his shoes end up pretty pink
not a good look!

now i just give em a coat of whatever colour they are sposed to be and whalah! back to new again

i wonder how many other strange uses there are for sign making products that no one ever thougth of?
hehehe

cheers
