Hi Shirley!

The fast and easy way is to get some other kind soul to do it for you...

If you plan to contribute images on an ongoing basis, you need a web page on which to host the images. The "Image" command (the http thingie) points to the location of the pic on your web page.

Part of the service that your ISP probably includes in their price is a "FREE WEB PAGE" of so many megs. Talk to them. It's pretty easy to throw something together. Alternatively: sign up with somebody like the Lycos network (also free) and you can have a web page up in less than a day.

Shirley, Barb Shortreed did a nice writeup which I have in hardcopy. Alas, the search tool above will not recover it.

What Jon says is correct. I will say it over again a different way.

First thing, your image should be no bigger than 500 pixels wide or it will be too big for the screen.

Second thing, you have to get your photo into hyperspace so that it has a link that you can point people to. Barb suggested sitegem, freeservers, webshots as possible free places where you could park your picture. I had trouble with webshots, so I would up putting my pics at the free space that comes with my internet connection. If you only want to post one pic, you can have someone else put the pic on the web and give you the link for your use. This paragraph is the hard part.

Once you have a link, the rest is easy. When you prepare your post, click on the image box at the bottom and copy the link into the address box. Use the Preview Post button to check that it works.

The first pic is the hard one. After that its just another chore. Good Luck! Vic G

Hi Shirley,

Here's how to post a picture.....

1) Scale the image up to (but no more than) 500 pixels.

2) Save as 72 dpi JPG or GIF. (JPG is prefered)

3) Upload the image to your website on the internet. If you do not have a site, here are two that you can try.....

http://www.sitegem.com
http://www.freeservers.com

4) Once you have the images uploaded, "right click" on an image and select the "properties" command.

5) Using your cursor, highlight the address listed. It should look something like this....

http://home.nc.rr.com/walldog/kitty.jpg

Right click on the highlighted address and click "copy".

6) Then, when you post a message, click on the "IMAGE" BUTTON BELOW.

7) The following two codes should appear ""

8) Place your cursor between them and right click again and click "paste".

****OR****

If you are using Windows Internet Explorer 6, you should get a "pop-up" window titled "Windows Explorer Prompt". Just paste the address in the space provided and click "ok." It will place the proper code into your message.

Thats all there is to it. [Smile]
