I have a new client who is in the AC biz and asked about those decals that they put on AC units (i.e. for service call such & such AC company). He showed me some of his existing decals that were plain ugly and he said they were fading fast as other companies decals were lasting a long time.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Tony B

Tony,

Here is the deal......

Chances are the decals that are fading fast were done via flexography. They are definately short term promotional type decals, but most average customers don't know that. All they see are how cheap they are.

Screen printed decals are going to last much longer.

Screen printed decals with a UV overlaminate are going to last much, much longer. They also cost more.

Another factor is the placement of the decal. Decals placed on a vertical surface are going to last much longer than those placed on a horizontal surface. You'd be surprised how many of my clients never considered this. Also, if the decal is placed near a heat source, it is going to have a shorter life span.

And finally, the choice of colors is a big factor. And, I'm not talking about Red vs. Black. Some shades of red last longer than other shades of read. Fire Red UV screen ink will last longer outdoors than Bright Red.

If you have something specific, feel free to contact me at anytime. I'll be glad to help.

If you don't want to print them yourself, try Stouse. They are a big outfit and you can probably find them with a google search. Vic G

Hi Tony,
I use Stouse all the time. They have a great variety of decals, magnetic business cards, and labels.
Good luck!
