Is there such thing as a pre-printed vinyl that looks like diamond-plate aluminum?
If so, where can I get it.

Easy enough effect to achieve with a Gerber EDGE or another digital printer...

I Edge print a diamond plate pattern onto vinyl for a machine shop customer of mine. I found the diamond plate pattern as one of the fills in Corel Draw 9.

Hey Brian,
I have CD 9, where is the diamond plate fill you mentioned? Is it in the textures or the bitmap fills?

Call SignMart in Anaheim, California. They have it. It's not printed from what i've seen. It almost looks like chrome vinyl with the plates etched into it.

You can also try www.graphicut.com who aren't merchants here Yet! Maybe you can convince them to join. But it is preferred here in Letterville to check with those who are already merchants first. The above mentioned site takes you to a company who was at the BIG show in Columbus last year. The sample I saw there looks like what I think you're looking for; although the sample pic on website looks much darker.

GBC Sign warehouse had diamond plate screenprinted vinyl in their catalog along with a number of other printed patterns and textures.
They're a merchant here too. www.signwarehouse.com Posted by BRIAN CAISSIE (Member # 2673) on :
I bought this file from signwarehouse.com, it is listed under holographic film, it might be screenprinted, it looks like the diamonds were etched in, but it has a smooth surface. The only thing, it only lasts two years, 24" X 10 Yds. $45.00.

I tried some of the Chrome look with the etched pattern and it failed outdoors fast. It is a short term material designed for stock cars etc. which will get replaced regularly. It has a clear film on top that peels off after a while, especially at sharp points. It looks cool though when used for displays and such.
