Last week a mention was made about shadows in different colors. The writer felt that multicolor shadows didn't work. I am playing with a shadow with a light to dark fade in Corel. What's your take on this?

I think it all depends on the design and where it is going to be seen from. What may work well in one instance may not work well in another.

Just my take...

I think that multi-color shadows can be exciting in a design. Look at some of the really cool stuff Karen Souza does with blended split shades. Boy, that's some mighty tasty stuff there.

I guess that some color combinations don't look right, like Fred mentioned, and there will always be times where a shadow might be inappropiately used in a design. It would be your job, as the designer, to see that it happens right.

I, personally, don't use a lot of multi color shading in my lettering work, leaning instead towards bolder outlines and shades and such and using blends on the letttering itself.

Remember, just because one person doesn't like the style, that doesn't make it wrong. Everyone has their own take on it, I guess.

Have a great one!
