I have received e-mail from several residents from my earlier post.
the most disturbing is from Mr. Glen Taylor. I am not a predator on the internet.
I simply posted a few comments and photos.
I never meant to cause trouble, maybe this is not the forum for me?

Hey Kenny, I been here for 5 years, and still don't understand it either.

Hey Kenny...take the posts as a compliment! Sometimes what gets written comes out wrong and is misinterpreted! Don't believe me....wait till you try to understand OldPaint!
Posted by Mike Pipes (Member # 1573) on :
Kenny, I think what Glenn is saying is that this BB has some dramatic ups and downs... one day everything is A-OK, the next day people are ripping each other to shreds for all to see... but dont let the bad times outweigh the good.
As far as the women fighting, I think that goes back to the other post with your picture, and the ladies wanting you as their personal bodyguards.
And if I'm wrong on both items, well Glenn is a skinny guy, you could take him down easily and his cute button nose squeaks when punched real hard.
OH, and the smiley faces like this mean we're just kidding or playing around, not to be taken seriously.
Enjoy!

Hi, Kenny,
Just agreeing with everybody else-- this IS the place for you to be.

Kenny, I wouldn't feel like Glen said something wrong in his email. Hang around amigo, in time you'll see this is really a cool place to meet, learn and enjoy the people of the internet sign world...

The best way to begin to understand Letterheads is to attend a live meet or get together with some of the Letterheads in your area. Drop by the Events Page at www.letterhead.com/events.html to see what's happening.
There are all sorts of Letterheads within a 100 mile radius of Montgomery Kenny. Use the Lettergead Database at www.letterhead.com/mdb.cgi to locate them and either call or e-mail a few. Those of you reading this that live near Kenny could use this as an opportunity to put together a small meet to get aquainted.
You'll find Letterville is very much like most small towns. Over the years, we have our own ways of doing things, sometimes good and sometimes...well...hahahaha? We're very protective over each other but eager to welcome those wanting to learn and participate.
If you ever have any concerns or questions about Letterville, Barb and I are just a phone call away at 519-787-3673.

I think Kenny speaks volumns. Now is a chance to gauge what letterville is to someone who just arrived. First impressions are everything.
Hey kenny, What did you expect when you signed on? A fresh perspective may give us a new insite on the friendliness of the community.
All I will say is Steve and his wife Barb are kind and gentle people who do thier best to dispense fair judgement and promote harmony.
I keep a flame retardant suit nearby ...just in case.

At lest you are voiceing your concerns. That is always a GOOD sign. One thing you might take into consideration is.... We have ALL been where you are at right now.
Hope this helps

After reading Glenn's email, it is obvious that he was having a joke with you about the women.

Kenny,
I have to say Glenn is one of the lambs on here, It may have been a misinterpretaion of his e-mail. I see it as a humurous helpful offering.
Kenny I like your style, stick around I believe you can learn a lot form this board, become a fabulous painter, and get paid well for it too!
A lot of newbies come and then seem to fade quickly, you've already wade some cool waves, might as well ride em out! It may be the best ride yet!

Sigh....
Mike and Phil have it right.
I honestly don't see what I said that was so disturbing. I thought I was offering some humor and encouragement. Now I feel like I going to have to walk on eggs.
Kenny, I wrote back to your e-mail to me a few minutes ago before seeing this post. Since you've put this up publicly I'll respond publicly so as to explain myself.
I see humor in things.
It was your first portfolio pic posted and your first public day here in Letterville. Janette being the forthright person that she is offered some suggestions to which in Cheryl's eyes might have been too strong. And as I continued to read through all of the posts, one thing popped out at me....."Kenny has been here for one day and already two women are arguing over him." Where I'm from, most would see that as a compliment.
Janette and Cheryl are two great people with two distinct personalities. I have a tremendous about of respect and admiration for both of them and for everyone here.
I wish there was some way to show facial expression and body language in these typed out messages. It would help better convey my intent in what I say. A good writer can do it with words. Sadly, I'm not a good writer at all.
Please accept my sincerest appologies. It was never my intent to offend you, but to offer a smile and a chuckle.

Nope. You had it right to begin with. As a matter of fact this IS the wrong BB for anyone younger and better looking than me and Si. It's going to be lonely here with just me, Si and the girls, but we're going to do our best.
Posted by Steve Nuttle (Member # 2645) on :
Kenny,
Welcome to Letterville! I moved here just a month ago and shortly after that posted a similar type post. Dated Jan 29 I think. I have learned so much here and have met some really cool people. I look forward some day to attending a live meet and seeing them in person. Stick around and you will be amazed at what you will learn.
This is just like living in a small town. We have a great mayor and first lady and many interesting community members. I still haven't figured it all out but I like living here!
Best Regards, Steve

I'm right there with you Kenny. I too am starting to understand this forum less, and wonder more if it's the place for me. Thankfully, my good senses are not that easily swayed from recognizing the good things!
Glenn was just having a male bonding kinda laugh with you. I'll bet you've probably stirred up a tizzy with the ladies before?
Yesterday just must have been marked as a good day for a cat fight eh? This kitty is real sorry for her part in that whole thing. While I wasn't exactly thrilled with how Cheryl's words made me feel yesteday, I do respect her for voicing her feelings. It did cause me to re-evaluate the tone on my first post, and clarify it on my second one.
On the subject of layout, my mind seems to get in automatic pilot mode, and I start thinking like a mechanic. By lunging in with suggestions, I realize now that it could be percieved, by some, as tearing someones work apart. All the while my intentions are to build them up with some info I've acquired by making the very same "wrong moves" once. While I did mention liking the concept of that graphic, I guess I was still alittle bit shy of the sugar coating for a few people's tastes.
As much as I'd enjoy a more free-flowing exchange here of constructive information and ideas with regards to layout, I'm not sure that can be effectively accomplished here. Personally, I'm just not sure I can walk the tightrope of everyone's sensitivities. I'll be more reserved with my comments from here on out, and let others do more of the talking.
Kenny, you've been a true gentleman in your short time here. I'm happy and relieved that you appreciated my suggestions yesterday as positive input and that others came in with similar suggestions and their support of you also. That's what was supposed to happen on that thread, without our little detour.
As I look back on my reply here, I realize that this is probably the most smiley faces and winkies I've used on any one post I've ever made. Yes, I suppose you could say I'm taking no chances! heehee!
Cheers! Janette

Barnum and Bailey bills itself "The Greatest Show on Earth". The signs get painted here in Letterville.

Good morning Kenny. Yes I suppose this place seems a bit confusing at first. But it really is a great place. Stick around and you will see. You will also see some very fun personalities (such as Glenn, Si and Pierre) great designs, helpful criticism (!) and yes even a clash in thoughts a time or two. But this is Letterville. A place mixed with all sorts. I have found everyone to be nice people. Sure our words get misunderstood, when we are proud we share, when we are sad we share. Most of the time we are helpful, some of the time we are not. Sometimes we forget to use the little smiley faces to show others we are just kidding. (and other times we overuse the heck outta them) As far as my part in the 'kitty fight' yesterday, sorry to have started it on your first picture post. yeeeeeeeow (must be a blond thing.....yesterday my hair stylist made me into a blond accidently)................................. I just have seen it happen too many times where newcomers get scared off by the negativity, or lack of response. Well Kenny...you certainly got some response! And this is a good thing. So sit down, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the ride. And never ever let anyone intimidate you. We are all here to have fun and learn. Keep Smilin'! Cheryl

Kenny, congratulations on your ministry and devoting the profits to it. We kid each other here, being new I think you took it the wrong way.
By the way we have another thing in common, here I am having a bit of fun with the judges...

Hey Kenny take heart, you're not the only new kid on the block, and not the only christian here either Every one of Glen's posts I've seen so far was very friendly and helpful, take my word for it. Wait until you ask for some specific help with something and you will be amazed and in awe at all the expert advice you'll receive. And one more thing,I thought you were given a grand welcome, really, you can feel part of this place already...

Dear Kenny,
I'll bet you're just as confused as rest of us are hehehe.
This place is like a soap opera sometimes. We're all human, we all have bad days, and we all get worked up over some of the silliest things.
We do all agree to disagree as well.
Please excuse some of the posts here, as when one is on a keyboard, and replying to a monitor, facial expressions and body language are missing and often times messages are construed in ways they were not intended.
Most times, it's a failed attempt at humor. Take everything here with a grain of salt and try not to let the chaos sweep you up! If you're ever confused, you can always email the person that confused you and see if it can be worked out in a private forum, so to speak.
Some of us don't always have time to answer posts with the forethought of how it may be taken...just some quick advice in a hurry and blam...everything explodes while yer not looking, hehehe.

A GREAT BIG WELCOME ABOARD KENNY! Even though I get seasick, it doesn't keep me away from my love of the sea, any water or fishing! It is in my blood, you will find! the people here are the most interesting conglomeration (oops I probably will hear about my spelling), that you will ever find in the world in the world of lettering. It is so refreshing to see some familiar faces pop out of the woodwork, hey Bernice! Hi Nettie! Hey Cheryl I owe you a letter! A lot of talent laced with modesty, here cometh the inhabitants of letterville where some are pussycats, but don't tell them I said so, it may start another post! I can't tell if Si or Pierre are cuter, it is their subtle sense of devotion to keep us laughing and informed about the left wing is one of the their talents that keeps my spirit alive. Barb and Steve are right, a meet is the ONLY way to fully get your wings wet...stick around, don't worry about Glenn, we all tease him when we can figure out how.. he does quite a bit of research to disprove all! what a professor. These outbursts of some and opinions are cherished by me since I value a warm-blooded being compared to a bland, lifeless personality anyday! High spirited individuals that will give you the shirt off their backs, no joke there! There's a sharing of life here, from the births of new babies to a job learning to be done from a to z, to the supporting of another letterhead or friend through surgery or loss, and a revitalization of our seasoned veterans of the true arts of many forms! Stick around and you may get some foods from many different lands and backgrounds! And sometimes, yes sometimes between the sloppy pie fights and bear hugs, we do teach each other our precious tips, tricks and talents! Glad you showed up, Kenny, we need a shot in the arm these days! Stick around, you won't regret it, neither will we! the best to you always, Deb Fowler

Well I don't think the windows were done by Kenny. I think they were done by Mark Fair as it looks like the colors he would choose and this post looks like his kind of work.
