can you apply vinyl without worrying about outgasing or adhesion problems?
Thanks in advance!

I believe I read somewhere that three days is the length of time to wait...

Ricky...I know that a WHOLE bunch of folks will tell me I am wrong but I have installed vinyl lettering and/or graphics on Base/clear paint jobs as soon as overnight after the paintjob was completed. The transfer tape left an impression in the paint but it flowed out in a matter of an hour. I have done this several times, not because I want to, but because the body shops never seem to allow enough time. You have to realise that regular 2 mil cast vinyl DOES "breathe" and will allow any gasses to pass through.
NOW..don't try it with SignGold!!!! That stuff does NOT "breathe"!!! How do I know? I have a few little bubbles in the SignGold on my van where I applied it over basecoat/clearcoat paint after an overnight cure.

I've done in less than 6 hours with out any problems full trailer wraps, I was nervous about it but the paint reps said do it and it worked fine ask what brand of paint and call their 800 number they will have a rep call you.

I do repair work for a high quality body shop and they let me go after 24 hours,,, less would be ok.. but 24 hours is good...
theres a paint used here on industrial equipment and vehicles.. called Endura.. that stuff, you need to wait at least a week,,,

Ricki, I know that you can speed up the whole outgassing process with heat lamps, which most body shops use anyway. It will cure nearly 3 times quicker with modest heat. I would still give it 24 hours on that. Sign enamels are of course slower. You can put the vinyl on, but if you try to change or remove for the next few days the paint will come with the vinyl. This after I had put a sample swatch on a 24 hour one shot panel for color coordinting and left it overnight....Jack

I'm lettering a race car for a body shop. It was a rush job for a show. He baked the car three times because it would outgas if he didn't. the painting and lettering needed to take place in a 24 hour period.
