Hi all. I'm trying to fit some text to the inside of an oval & it doesnt look good. I just did it manually, without using fit text to path in corel draw 8. Since I'm not happy with either one of my results, could someone tell me of another way to do this? Thanks in advance, Felix.

Felix...As far as I know there are only two ways to do it...Manually or using the "fit text to path" feature. In the past I have found that "fit text to path" sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. In the cases where it doesn't I break the text apart into individual letters and manually align them the way that I find looks correct.

I can't picture your exact need Felix. If you're talking about one word or short line of copy to fit along one arc of the oval, (either top arc or bottom arc), you've got three choices; - use 'fit to path' on the oval itself and specify an offset from the edge. - use 'fit to path' on a NEW arc segment or oval you create inside the original oval (my usual method). - use 'envelope' on the copy...dragging the control curves up or down into an appropriate arc.
If you're talking about one long line of copy that want's to wrap all the way around the oval, then 'fit to path' is the only way. Still, I usually make an inner oval for the text to follow.

we ran into this at the duck soup meet. corel 7 will do it better then 8 or 9....they are ok if it on top of the arch, but puting it on the inside bottom..it goes all screwy.....my 7 will do both but am never happy with it and i tend to realign by breakin apart and settin it wher i want it manually.

I have always done it manualy at the time of installation! I find the distortion of the letters and the kerning created from going through any type of program is optically incorrect. This might be why I have never seen it done any other way successfully. Some times it is best to rely on your visual abilities. Rather than trying to make the machine do all the work! As a case in point..I still can't get my computer to climb a ladder! Go figuire
