I am looking for a source for the decals and markings applied to police cars. Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Bryon- not sure what you are asking here...
Are you looking for idea's and/or types of police markings?????
If so, Signcraft mag. has a book published about that very thing. You can find it by following the link from this site.
If your looking for ready made stuff let me know.
BTW, what part of Tennesee are you in???

I just got done with two new cars for the city. The department wanted the badge that they wear placed on the doors of the car. I started by taking a digital picture of the badge (on officer's shirt) and went from there. I did a little web searching... looking for badge clip art, thinking I would find a similar badge and then add the lettering later.
Well, I did find similar badges, but the resolution was pretty poor. I went ahead and re-drew the badges, scanned them and edited them in corel 10.
After a few changes (too many chiefs at the department) with the exact wording, they turned out ok as a digital print. This could be done in vinyl overlays or painted. I'll post a picture.
Kind of fuzzy as a jpg but you get the idea.

both have already ready to go artwork as far as crests, badges that they sell so they can easily duplicate anything you throw at them and they offer the service to depts, they also have some stock generic designs available as far as words/stripes (i.e. SHERIFF,POLICE etc) the dept may be happy with on gradient shaded reflective vinyl, etc, they will also put it magnetic material if you request. You're free to inquire, but any purchase made from them for something like that has to either be done via dept letterhead or you must have it come from the agency itself, which if you're the one doing the vehicles they will have no problem doing.

There are a couple of companies on the net but I'm not sure what the names are. They make complete emergency vehicle graphic kits ready to go. I have a friend who does digital printing for me in MO. who can take an actual photo of a badge and print it on vinyl. They look real good and he uses high quality material. Here's his info: Larry Images Unlimited Forsyth, MO iu.printing@verizon.net

Bryan,
Check out Vector Art, Volume 2 "The Classic Collection" from Roland.
You will find a nice collection of fire and police vehicle graphics on this CD.
