I was just curious! I constantly find myself looking at signs when I should be looking at the road. So far I have been lucky but I am sure my days are numbered!
Anyone have a similar feeling?

No, but on sign watching days I do wear my trusty crash helmet. Bronzeo

No Amy, i never had that problem. But I've always noticed that that the Body Shop business is always booming in Florida.

No, but I have noticed blatant apathy from my wife when I make a comment while gawking...no-one seems to care that we do, eh?

On a recent trip to Brisbane with a load of furniture to help set up my sons in their rental house for college, ...........WUPPO!

OOOOOH that smarts.

The Mrs. makes sure that I keep my truck between the ditches but sometimes I just have to turn around, go back and look; safer that way. But, the wife is beginning to develop into a "sign connosieur" as well. There goes my buffer of safety.

Not with signs, but I remember being on our m/c with the lady of my life some years ago, and seeing a live version of The Birth of Venus way too close to the road for safetys sake.
I am pretty sure the BB denizens of the male persuasion have similar stories --- but don't care-- spell that as "d-a-r-e"-- to share.

Yes I'm afraid I have. Many years ago I was looking up at a recently painted sign and I veered off the street. luckily for me it was an old bomb that I hit. I left a note but was never contacted, but it cost me quite a bit for my own car. Funny you never learn though, I have since had near misses.

Not me. When ever we go on a trip, my wife drives. She doesn't trust me.

I guess I've been lucky because I do my share of gawking while I drive. I'm reminded of my dad, a farmer who weaved down many a country road checking out wheatfields. I often rode in terror as a child and he never drank.

Yup Amy, I'm guilty of some close calls myself.

Yup.....I do it too, never hurt anything but come close. Some days there's not enough time to STOP & look....lol

Marty, I know that feeling. My dad has become a gawker and somehow, his hands have become attached to his eyes, whichever way his head turns, so does the wheel. It's got to the point that if I go somewhere with him, I grab the keys and get in the truck before he's out of the house.
I haven't hit anything yet while looking at signs, but I've interrupted a few sentences with "nice sign!" I've also been known to explain in detail that when we come back past this place, you need to drive veeery slow so I can gawk at that sign.
