Hi heads.
Was jammin' this morning while coating out some panels, listening to Nirvana's "Rape Me". It occured to me that maybe that is the song I should have playing in the background of my voice mail.
Right now, I have "Clint Eastwood" by the Gorillas. Sometimes I select something from the "O Brother" CD, an idea I borrowed from Mike Meyer. At Christmas, I play Tchaikovsky (SP!!!!) and when I get back from vacation, it's always "Back on the Chain Gang" by the Pretenders.
I think adding music to your message is fun, both for you & your clients, as long as you don't choose something lengthy like "Inagaddadavida"...
Love- JILL [Razz]

Just a low tone voice saying SORRY!

Some days I feel like a Nut!
and Some days I don't!

But most days that old cell phone is plugged to my ear from 8am.-6pm.
Hopefully never letting the customer leaving a message! [Wink]

The worst thing in the world is playing phone tag.

I use my cell phones answering service, so the message is:
"I'm home right now, but leave a message and I'll call you when I'm out."

My voice mail is a little different, and the only music I have is whatever is playing on the radio at that moment:

Hej, Välkommen till SignCraft tyvarr jag kan inte svarar just nu, men lämna meddelande på bandet, så ringer jag upp dig, eller prova mobilen 070-550 66 50, Tack & Hej.

Which means much the same as what others have written but in swedish!

I would like a copy of Henry's message so that when the pesky telemarketers call, they think they dialed a different country instead of province!!That'll learn'em!!(just kidding Henry, but kudos to you for learning that language.)

If you are obsessive-compulsive, press 1 repeatedly.

If you have multiple personalities, press 3, 4, 5 and 6.

If you are paranoid, we know who you are and what you want. Stay on the line so we can trace your call.

If you are delusional, press 7 and your call will be transferred to the
mother ship.

If you are schizophrenic, listen carefully and a small voice will tell
you which number to press.

There was a signpainter named Sacks,
He ate roasted mallards for snacks.
This brought on a change,
that was really quite strange,
because now when he makes signs
he quacks!

Steve, That foriegn message ought to work. A friend in Chicago switched his to some voice speaking French saying who knows what. It works.

I currently have the "yawn" kind mentioned above, but have seriously considered one that says:
"I will check messages & return all calls around 11:30 & again at 4:30, Please leave a detailed message. I am working on several projects & will not be answering calls."

I had been thinking about this idea for a while, & when a post here led me to Chip Carter's "Make your Sign Business Successful" on-line booklet I found a similar suggestion there.

Anyone doing this? Seems like it may alienate some people, but I'd get a lot more work done.

I am like Michael.....I leave a short message. "This is Cheryl....sorry I missed your call. Please leave a message and I will call you right back!" People don't want to listen to a long message.

I have an answering service that seems to get people to leave a message if they want to.

I NEVER CALL MYSELF
so I really don't know what it says

Doug, I took it a step further. I told people to call me on Mondays...that I was out on jobs the rest of the week. I suggested they think through the order they wanted to place over the weekend and be ready to let me make it happen starting monday!

I virtually took Mondays off, from physical work. But, being a single parent, that was my day. I told folks if they had money, I would answer the phone hehehe!

Before 5:00 in the afternoon, I could place my orders with the supply house and first thing tuesday morning, everything would be delivered.

That gave me a day to myself, no public appearances. I could catch up on laundry, take a nice bubble bath, just relax and think through what I wanted to accomplish that week. The kids were in school so it was quiet, very much unlike the weekends.

I worked tuesday through friday, saturdays if it was necessary.
