Anyone looking for a ride? The ute will be departing Brisbane a day or two prior to the meet and returning a day or two afterwards. Also interested in splitting the accomodation costs so long as you don't leave me with the mini-bar tab. Potential applicants would ideally have a sense of humour and a high nicotine tolerance. En route pick-ups and drop offs no probs. (within limits) David

Those Aussies sure know how to throw a Letterhead Meet. Click on the link below for the latest info on October's meet.
Never been to a live meet? Take a few minutes to look over stories and photos from past meets. Go to http://www.letterhead.com/meets/index.html and take a stroll down memory lane.

I would ride with yer Dave ... but already arranged to fly down with Kel Lawton and hire a car in Sydney. Trying for one of those "el-cheapo" airfares that come down to $65! Besides, it's not the drive down ... it's the 14 hour drive home (and Kel don't smoke!) We can organise sharing accomodation tho. Get all the "Queensland Connection" in the same motel. See yer there:)

since the food is all happening in house we aint gunna have to leave the shed much anyway

Well, David, I reckon I'll at least ride back with ya. You promised me a ride down the coast.
I'm thinking of leaving here October 1st. That would give me a week with anybody close to Sydney.
I can even share a room with ya since we got so much yakkin to do, but I don't see me leavin the meet early for pesky sleepin. I've been known to stay up for 2-3 days if I'm workin on sompn. That we way we can get some time in before I'm employed by John.
Then I'd be property of Jon Butterworth till he let me go back to America. I've promised Katidid a few days as well!
I'm not sure how to itinerize my time there without looking at a map and having everybody present. Maybe put it on the back burner fer now.
I do want to see if Axyl can really lick his eyebrows! Hahaha! (from a great distance of course! LOL)
I promised Jenny I'd fly back on or near the 12th of December (yes, Jon, this year hehehe!)
I may be able to show up earlier, isn't there an airport in Brisbane? I'm getting confused...more later hehehe!

Oh Bob! That sounds wonderful! Thank you! I'd love to see the homeplace of the famous red-headed kookaburra! After all these years of merely chatting, it would be a pleasure to finally meet you and the whole gang!
Thank you again for televising the whole affair on Christmas! I know you went to a lot of work just to make it happen and it was a very touching moment to see her open the certificate! I can't begin to tell you what a pleasure it was see her smiles and be a part of your holiday in such a personal way! Thank you for having us in your home for the holiday!
Awed by your graciousness, I'd be honored to accept your hospitality. Meeting Rob would be wonderful too! I can't wait! See you then.

well linda we arnt the closest to the meet in sydney...the hosts are
but at only bout 1 1/2 hours drive north of the 'big coathanger' fyi= north is toward jon n dave n katie
my place is prob your best bet to start your adventure in and of course you are most welcome
that way we can take you down to the meet and hand you over to the queenslanders to take back up their way
u dont need a map, we count car rides by the days it takes if you can get there inside 1 day, 'its close' if it takes 2 days, 'its a while' if it takes any longer then 'its a way' as in 'WAY OUT/UP/DOWN THERE!'
from sydney, everyone cept axyl and ticks are close, ticks is 'a while' axyl and fran are *#*^#* WHERE!!!! although come to think of it with ticks driving (right side up) it could be 'close' hehehe
and i think jon's assesment of 6mths is fairly 'reasonable' *note, intent is tongue-in-cheek ya betta get used to tongue-in-cheek conversations especially ifn your planing on meeting our mate rob clark (roflol) he's a classic!
cheers gail

Hehehe Gail,
That helps me out quite a bit. I can understand the distance tics. Maybe since Axyl is so *#*^#* far away, maybe he'll meet me somewhere?
From what I've seen over the years on this BB and in chat, the whole lot of you are *#*^#* nuts. That's what intrigues me! LOL.
***Disclaimer*** that was meant in a loving fashion, not be taken as an insult! <grin>
I'd love to start off at your place, rumor has it if I can survive meeting Devo, anything is possible! hehehe!
6 months is such a long time. I hate to leave my young un for that long! I talked to her about it and she said, "shoot! If I could go there and meet those folks and make some money whilst I was at it, I wouldn't stop and think about it, I'd go!" She told me not to worry, she won't think I was rejecting her! hahaha She also has an invite from a girlfriend's family to go to the Bahamas. She's thinking one good turn deserves another. <grin>
I think 3 mos is about all I could handle, I do have a bit of a life here, with the young un and hubby and a house full of critters. Plus, there's the pesky fact that some folks are starting to notice my van and ask me the preliminary questions hehehe. As a matter of fact, I picked up a couple of small jobs yesterday that I need to get on before I leave for Oklahoma! It'd be nice if yawl were close hehehe! (at least)

Hey Linder, to get your head around what is where and who is what, try http://signbloke.tripod.com/au.jpg It might take a little while to load, I never really intended it for general viewing so its hardly what you'd call optimised. David
