Kelly, a trucker, comes into your shop. He has a white truck. He is an American, patriotic sort of guy, and wants his lettering done in "Red, White, and Blue.
Now the kicker: His business name is "KELLY GREEN TRUCKING.
In view of his name being the same name of a hue of green color, would you try to convince this guy that his name should be in greens?
What's your take on people who have names the same as colors and then don't use that color in their logo/image lettering?
I have a BROWN'S WRECKER SERVICE in this town, who painted their building GREEN and buy red trucks and nothing they own is "brown." Also there is a BLACK'S APPLIANCE STORE and their lettering is entirely blue on a white van.
I can't imagine YELLOW CAB COMPANY drivers motoring around in black and white cars.
Does this get under your skin? Does their advertising image send out a conflicting message when they choose different colors than their name?

I think you answered your own question Dave. They have probably heard that their whole life. Maybe they HATE green. There's certain colors I can't stand and wouldn't paint my truck that color regardless of my name.

Dave, you can really come up with some wild things! Look at it this way, if the blacks vehicle were black? If the yellow cab were yellow? If Kellys truck was Kelly green? What colors would you use then? I don't think I would try and convince him of that. Seems a little too literal for me.

i absolutly hate green... as far as colours are concerned there are only 2 i cant stand (purple is the other one) and yet both have great impact when used well in a sign, and i use them all the time... continually moaning about how i hate them thou
i dont know why we have adversions to different colours
i have to agree with you though dave for 'kelly green trucking' i can see how great green trucks would be as a marketing tool for this business
and then with sum yellow and orange, sum gold, mustards, a bit of white... man i could have fun with that on just a tad darker than 'kelly green' background
alas sum customers have no vision
but then again im just so sugestable that in the middle of summer 42c, if im watching a movie with snow in it i feel cold... hehehe
i know tell him that purple is really what he needs

Gail, I've got one for you and I swear I'm not making this up. A few weeks ago I did a purple Kenworth for Green Trucking, of course I did the lettering in green...BTW, it was a T-2000 Kenworth:)

Kelly is a nice irish name. Doesn't that say it all??. By the way that reminds me. Did you hear about the irishman watching a truck load of turf drive by and commenting to his friend that he wished he had enough money to have his lawn sent out to be mowed.

I'd do the red white and blue thing, and maybe stick a 4 leaf clover in somewhere for good luck.
Symbolic, Patriotic, Irish, and gets the job done with a hint of green.

Sell him the airbrushed (red white and blue) on the inside of the kelly green outline!
Graphics on the inside of the Kelly Green colour.
Vinyl. Handlettering. Automotive work.
