I have been considering the Summa dc2. Does anybody have one? I like the technology and the DuraSign plotter. I know Gerber had a similar product and it was a cluster fox trot.

Hello-
i have been using a Summa D620 for several years.
I like Summa alot-
little maintenence and set up,
good results.
There are several good brands of plotter out there.
I do not like Ioline at all.

Howdy,
Before getting the DC2, you might see if
they still have a Durachrome left.
The ribbons are less expensive...
Same machine... may have a deal.

I had a guy come in the shop who was offering wholesale printing from his dc2. He had a sample that he dropped off. I couldn't believe how bad the banding was.....worse than our colorcamm. It was about 4 inches apart. I was at the San Diego show this weekend and the T2 Solutions people have a couple impressive machines. The spark 1612 is a 16" machine (thermal) that is similar to the edge but you don't have to load each cartrdige. It has four seperate heads. The machine was very impressive. They also have a bigger machine called the "Sprinter B" which is 36" width. These machines don't have a moving ribbon (like the edge)...all the print goes down in one pass. The 36" machine prints at something like 600 sq.ft. per hour which is amazing.

I'm not sure about the price but I believe the 16" machine was going for about $45k.

We are also shopping for a large format machine and this one caught our eye.
