Most of the terms used are greek to me and I was offered a demo in August at a live meet. That sounded really fascinating. I would like to get rolling on this a bit sooner than that though as I have only one coat of paint on the lettering on the side of van. I need to finish that out but was hoping to have the mural tie in with it with the final tah dah stuff. That means I need to snap this mural together before I starve to death hehehe!
I'm offering to pack up my van and invade anybody's space to observe what ever I could possibly learn before I invest in a lotta stuff I don't find is for me, so to speak. I would like to learn all the safety measures and see how others steer this stuff.
I don't want to be a burden to anybody, so I will feed myself and pay for anything i use. Also, I did sleep in the driver's seat in my van the first night we arrived at Pat King's meet. I figure, this trip I won't tote a pastle o' young un's with me so I could stretch out in the back. Other than that, and Mark Fair's hog Callin Contest/Dixie Meet...I haven't packed up my sign kit and chased the horizon in forever...just the thought of it makes me feel 20 years younger! hehehe!
I'll understand if everybody is too busy with work picking up this time of year...but I would be sooooooo grateful if anyone wants to share anything I could use to feed myself in the future.
I am ecstatic about the translucent options to enhance the look of the water and the pearl sounds fun too!
I read Joe Pribish's post and like Joey says, this is a lot more than just fartin around. I seriously want to know all I can about it.

BTW, bring your portfolio with ya!
There are two that I know of in the area that lay paint on a vehicle worthy of my standards. I used to letter and stripe race cars and some of the body shops around here just don't get it, if ya cut yer finger on the paint job, it ain't worth lettering...LOL! (You know, the floaties in the surface...sheesh!) That's partly why I quit doing them, that and I got an attitude about squatting in oil slicks fer a living. It sure pays good, but yuck-gross, nasty floors.
I put my portfolio on-line so I wouldn't have to tote it around anymore hahaha!
I do have rolls of film I haven't had developed...out of 30 couple I have maybe 8 rolls left that didn't get lost in the move or eaten by the dog. It's just not sompn I've been able to remember to address.
How long is a piece of string? Hahaha! How much do ya charge fer a sign? Hahaha!
Seriously though, it depends on the offers Cisco, I'm willing to go where ever. After I posted this, I thought, wouldn't it be so kewl to have my trip toss me in Oklahoma at Fred's meet?
I did speak with Bob Harper, in Galena, Missouri, the other day and told him I would come out and visit soon. I talked to Benji and asked if he wanted to meet Bob Harper, he might be free for the day.
So, I reckon it's in the air and I'll grab onto anything that comes my way.
There's a saying,
If you can dream it, you can build it.
If you can touch it, it is yours!
(No, that does mean I'm willing to trade sexual favors for my lessons!)
Just that I'm wiling to do what has to be done. The urgency in my getting this done way before August is that I would really like to have a shot at atending the Sydney meet this October. If I could swing enough income by then, I could stay a few months and work with a few of my pals there! There is so much to learn and I would love to just get away from this keyboard and really see the world with my own two eyes.
C'mon Cisco, you know what I'm saying here, you did this awhile ago! Hehehe! Any tips? I've got a big ball of string wadded up here! LOL!

p.s. I edited this because I forgot a good thing to take is a Journal, and a tape recorder, I didn't have one of those either, saves lot of writing time. I think you'll have a great ride, and to answer your question... GO FOR IT!! we only live once, enjoy life to it's fullest and if your dream is to travel, then turn your dream into a reality. I didn't regret my road trip. If I had a nice chunk of money and things set up here, I think I would go back to Habana, Cuba and then to Australia.

i got lots more detail on the october meet (sydney) last night from the dynamic duo (aka the hosts John n Paul Jordan) and so will start building the info pages on the weekend
we spoke of you and cisco while eating pizza and shooting a game or too of pool and John reminded me that the reason they called this meet an 'international event' is that he really wanted to encourage as many up-overs to attend as possible.
one reason for this is the wonderfull times (and people) John has experianced up north and wishes to recipricate, he and Paul truly believe in the comunity which is letterheads world wide.
another is that they think you lot will really have a blast when you make it down our way.
personally i am really looking forward to showing you lot around my little nightmare (you'd have to see my workshop to understand) hehehe
now if we could just get steve n barb down here that would be heaven eh
so linda, do whatever it is you have to to make it... ok!
cheers
gail
You are a great guy to be so generous! Thank you so! I was pleasantly surprised to see all the things I'll need to think of. I will have to pick up an adapter to charge my phone, and I do have a digital camera, a plug, and software to download the proggie...I could run that, send the pics to my email addy and having shown hubby how to post em on my website...right before I drive away the software can be deleted and I can leave things as I found them <grin> ir not. I could do the film and stand in line at Wally Worlds across the country, but I need to save money when I can.
I'll need to acquire these things before I leave...
- Sounds like I'll need a new wardrobe, I've never owned a helmet before! I'm already thinking how I could deck it out to match the van hehehe!
- the cell phone adapter
- case of oil, belts, spare radiator hose, etc to keep the van rollin
- more a luxury, but a tape recorder would be practical! Fun, if everybody I visited got in on it!
- stock the cooler with juice and finger food
I could tote a banner to be signed by all my instructors! That could be auctioned off for Letterheads. it could also double as my report card! hahaha!
How far is Nova Scotia from you?
One Coast to the other..
Will Airbrush "ANYTHING" you want on the Van but you pay for clear coating...
(Room and Board) is free and any hot meals are on the house!
You bring the Artwork!
Surely you don't think I'm putting all this together just cuz I'm bored do ya? You challenged me mate! I'm takin it personal! <grin>
Plus a little promotion for your meet can't hurt eh?
Besides, Jon promised to take me out to dinner and give me some work to do, and I've billiards details to straighten Bloke out on!
I'm savin up for a big stick to carry whilst I'm over there so I don't get ate by spiders! Have you any catalogues/prices on big sticks? hehehe!
As for your meet, I'm studying here in the US of A to be ready for all the wonderful things I've seen drift over the pond, talent-wise. I never got to go to college, but by-cracky I wanna make up for it now!
Stephen,
That sounds like a sweet offer, but I think I'm making my way to Bob Harper's house, as I told him I would soon, he doesn't live anywhere close to Canada, but in Galena, Missouri. I thought after hangin up with Bob, wow, think of all the shops I would pass by, and they not knowing I'm out here on a lonely highway, waving as I whoosh by. I prayed about it and now it looks like it might really happen!
But, you never know, so, if I can call you several days ahead of time, if need be, I'd be honored to accept your offer! I've seen some of your work comleted, I'd be happy to watch you knock sompn out with a little explanation about what might blow up if,...and how cool sompn is when you know how.
My hubby did say earlier today, "I won't recognise you when you get back with all the signatures on the van!" I told him, "When I get back home, I'll honk the horn and come in humming the Partridge Family theme tune hehehe!" ...hence the idea of the mural / banner, I'm not auctioning off my van! hehehe!
All of this is one of those excersises in faith, for me...toss your intent upwards and watch the whole thing come together!
I hope I can keep up with myself! LOL!
For the Great Laugh!
A True Traveling "VAN" and not a Banner!
You husband has a great sense of humour!
and I know you do too!
I wouldn't be airbrushing the picture, but (YOU WILL), I will be drinking beer and help you along...
Supper Time is at 6 and we quit at Midnight!

I just bid on a wall job this morning, so not sure about when I could take off.
Michael,
That sounds like so much fun, no matter what type of paint is used! I wish I was already up there! I love carousel horses, have a small collection started already, hehehe. I have a friend in Pennsylvania, whom I talked to the other night, and she's anxious to see me again. It's been 14 years.
I think I need to get this wall job done so I can get my tickets to Sydney bought and have plenty of money for roadtrip purposes.
I realize my "offer" is sudden and imposing in nature. I really did not want to be a burden anywhere. I'll give it a week or two and let folks think about it and maybe I can plan this trip more efficiently. I do need to go to Galena, Missouri.
I'll post again with an itinerary of sorts, as I get sorted out here. Hitting the road with a couple of hundred dollars wouldn't be as practical as 10 times that. I'd like to be able to purchase the protective wear first, as well. Does anybody have any links to that type of thing?
Luke, I may be able to hit Florida, if nothing else, around the time of the meet that John Smith is putting on in March. Amy wants to play with my wacom tablet, hehehe. Not to dis your offer, but I'll be set-up to sleep in the van. I'll leave less stuff behind that way, just let me know when I can sneak into the shower without bumpin into somebody, hehehe! Ooh, and when the coffee is ready!
Luke, do you have experience with automotive paints? I can mow grass like it was goin outta style. I do it here, hubby thinks it's kewl!
I've got to get back to work now, I'll check back in later today and tonight. Till then, Happy Trails where ever you go!
PS - here's a link for anybody toying with the idea of going to the Sydney meet. Once you see how cheap it is to go, you may decide to go for it! I did! <grin>
