I was glad it wasn't a blowout, and came down to the end of the game to decide the winner.
To those who follow football, I was surprised that neither team really tried to establish a running game, or gave up on it too easily, and depended on defense and passing! Nice change from the past 20 something years.

New England is sometimes famous for its Know-it-alls (sometimes I'm one of them ), and in the past week a lot of huffing and puffing was done(not here but in the "real world") over starting Brady instead of Bledsoe, yada yada yada. So much for that theory.
Then there was John Madden (no relation to Joey) when the score was tied, insisting that the Pats should play it safe and go for overtime. Ol' John was looking kinda sick after the game, wasn't he?
The other folks feeling queasy today have gotta be the bookies. Lots of money will change hands today, and it won't be like was expected.
I don't recall a championship game in any sport that was as thrilling to watch, and as emotionally satisfying, as last night's Super Bowl. I had made a comment on an earlier post about head vs heart. Nice to have the heart win one for a change.
The Pats win the Superbowl! This will take some getting used to.

This was one of the best Super Bowl games I've seen in a long time. It certainly had the drama!
Its nice to see a game that was more entertaining than the commercials.

I swear, I think the NFL has turned into the WWF. Let me get this straight... a team that has sucked since day one, but called the PATRIOTS, can get to the Super Bowl, fend off the dominant opposition, then the opposition comes back just before the movie, err uhh game, comes to a close - then win with SEVEN SECONDS to go?
I dont take anything as a given since 9/11.
Everything is decided by a committee in a bunker under a mountain in Colorado, or am I the only one that knows that?

I've been hearing all of this Limbaugh jive about how the Pats weren't deserving of the opportunity to compete in the Superbowl.
There's been a lot of sniveling that "the best team didn't win".
Do me a favor, would ya? Anybody? Define "best", as it applies to a football team.
Does it mean having the biggest stadium? Does it mean having the coolest uniforms? Does it mean having the prettiest cheerleaders? Does it mean having the most outspoken players?
Does "winning" ever enter into your definition?
I'll bet that Goliath was a 14 point favorite over David, too. And I think that the Philistines are an apt analogy to some of the NFL clubs andto the know-it-alls, who not only favored the chances of these "stronger" teams (understandable), but who also openly mocked and showed contempt for the Patriots and their fans.
Well, Goliath showed up for the game with a high opinion of himself, and David showed up with a plan.
Seems to me that the Patriots are the ones being fitted for rings this week.

Gee, and I thought I was the only one. Yep, Limbaugh was shown than even he can be wrong. But, he was right later in the show today when he said that while the Patriots were not necessarily the best team, they were the best players when it mattered in the games that mattered - and nobody can take that away from them.
Now if the Carolina Panthers can be more like the Patriots, I'd be a happy camper.

It seems as if the Patriots have done the same. What a way to move into your new Stadium!
As I've said in the past, people who know me, know I am by far a football fan, but even I couldn't console myself watching last nights game.
I started watching it just to see Mariah Carrie and the commercials but it soon turned to irritaion for the commercials because they cut into the game.
Could it be that I might watch the games next year?
Probably not, but I am happy for the Patriots, History was made for sure.

iam with rob here...but i wouldnt listen to lintbag...and since when does he know anything about sports? hes nothing more the u.s tokyo rose....and he tell what hes told to.....as for the best team winning...well iam a steeler fan, grenn bay next and philly. as for the pats playin any "spectacular football"...the new orleans saints had more moxie and so did the tampa bay bucs....but since it was a rigged game..with all the "patriotic hoopla"...it just adds fuel to that "patriotic fire"...that they should have won...

The Patriots, starting the season at 1 win and 3 losses, knew that it would be a long, tough road to try to make the playoffs. But they hung in there, playing well against some really good teams, including the Rams, and did it. In the playoffs, they had to beat the Raiders, but the "experts" said they couldn't. Then they had to beat the AMIGHTY Steelers, and again the "experts" laughed. Then they had to play the "experts'" best team(St.Louis Faulks?)in the NFL. They beat them. Yes, they beat them. By the end of the season, they were the best football TEAM in the NFL. They were the best football TEAM on that field. There are no more games left. They have nothing left to prove. Do they? I'm sorry if YOUR team lost. Usually it's my team. But not this time. The New England Patriots are the 2001-2002 NFL Champions. They proved it. 'Das da fact, Jack.

I was not rooting for either one this year, just watching.....and I have to say the Patriot win 2 SECONDS before overtime was, if it had been in a movie, almost a CLICHE'.....I mean the underdog team takes the game at the final horn?

What ever happened to acknowledging the winner of the Super Bowl as outright champions. Cripe, now there's conspiracy theories and shoulda's and woulda's.
Great game and kudos to the champs.
(I am holding back my own resentment on how the Lions were conspired against and kept from grabbing their rightful glory. Many of those losses should have been wins for a lot of reasons. "Lintbag" had something to do with that, not sure what, but he did).

The Patriots won it. Plain and Simple. It was also one of the best games seen in a long time. Kudos to the Pats and their fans!
