Thinking of switching to Juno for internet service. I am using Verizon right now, and Im not very pleased with it. Very slow connections. I know Juno is a portal like AOL, but was wondering if it had the same problems AOL has. Any comments?

I was at an 85th year birthday luncheon Saturday.
Was talking to a gal in her 70's who sounded pretty computer saavy. She said she was using Juno Premium, and was very satisfied. I don't know how extensive her computer needs are, but she was happy with it.

I'm thrilled with Earthlink, and have been since I first got hooked to the internet, so that's what I know for sure about this particular subject.

Tater, I've been using Juno for 3 years and am very happy with it. They have different levels from "free" to $9.95 a month. Plus, you can access your email without getting online.

I use Juno and am happy with it. I have used the e-mail part for so long that I forget how long it has been. The web Juno I have used for two years. The free part is hard to get on to at times. But it worked well enough to get me hooked on the BB. So now I use Juno Gold with no problems. I was using the library for free but it closes too soon. When others are having problems with AOL I have no problems getting on. My Mother has AOL only because Juno cannot be used on a MAC.

I've used Juno for a couple years now. Started out with free service but now have their premium service. I also like the fact you can choose either go get mail or go to website. If you choose the mail option, Juno retrieves your mail & disconnects. So if you don't want to tie up the phone line you don't have to. Also, you can write mail offline then send. This option is
rarely used anymore as Juno keeps adding access numbers, some of which are locals.

I'm not sure what AOL problems you refer to. If it's gaining access I think Juno is better (from what I hear). Rarely can I not get on. Just disconnect & try again. If it seems slow, look down in lower left corner where it shows
connection speed & time online. On my 56.6 modem the slowest speed has been 45333 & the fastest 53000 (or close to that I think).

If they still have the free service, try it out. When you start paying, the ads disappear & you have more screen space. Where it was really frustrating was here on the bullboard. With all those ads there wasn't much space for viewing posts.

The only thing you may not like is that it's geared more toward personal use. I can get to Letterville (probably more than I should) & most anyplace else. But, I don't know, maybe it's changing. Maybe that was just the free service
that they didn't want you staying online forever. Used to always get those messages while service was free. Occasionally now I'll get a message asking to disconnect & if I don't see it - click! It seems like the merger with NetZero
has brought that about.

Anyway, Good Luck, whatever you decide.

I am one of those "if it's free its for me" type guys. I have the free juno on my computer as well as netzero although there are restrictions and such I dont need much. I use netzero until I use up me 25 free hours per month then I use the free juno. What a cheapskate!
