I just got off the phone with krylon they said the company was sold to sherwin williams in 1998, and that there was no formula change. To this date I have never had a problem with kylon they said it's an acrylic lauguer base. what type of problems is everybody having peeling ,coming off with application tape? What?

I haven't had any problems with Krylon either. I did notice they changed the logo on the cans, but seeing as the cans don't list ingredients I couldn't compare the 2. BTW, I thought EVERYTHING had to have ingredients listed on the can.

Trade Secrets, but the Material Safety Data Sheet, Has to tell the whole story, as it relates to health and safety.
All manuf. are required to make them avail. to you, your supplier has(should have)copies for you.

Ahh, another myth debunked. Thanks Scott. It seems about a year ago the 'word' came over the BB that Krylon was changed and would no longer stick to vinyl the way it always had. On that basis alone, I had stopped buying it. Now I can resume.

I have found Krylon the times ive used it to be inconsistent.... sometimes peeling off with app. tape.... the only krylon i know use.. is gold...
Im a big fan of SEM - a paint made for vinyl auto parts... sticks like a hobo to a hotdog .. in 10 years have had zero failures.... you can get it in spray cans also.....
I spray a lot of autographics and lettering... conservatively have over 2,000 applications out in the field....
Also use thinned out nazdar...

Del, I agree with you on the use of SEM which is made for vinyl. But as you know most signmakers do not have auto body suppliers in their rolladex.

Ok, I'm interested. Is there any contact info on this SEM product. Website, phone #'s, someones cousin??

Jim, you can find SEM Products at most automotive parts stores or auto body supply stores. I haven't tried it for sign vinyl, but I used to be in the auto trim business and used it often. Great stuff. Lots of colors.
