It's a shame when a man creates a nice sign, shows you how he did it, and still can't even enter it in the SOTM.
Maybe if we can get enough people to vote for it we can FORCE Mr. Fair to award himself the first SOTM of 2002.

Your vote counts (unless maybe if your in Florida ... haha)

(vote 1) - yay

Now here's something worth posting about...........

I vote "YES" to this being a "Sign of the Month"..!!!!

Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :

I vote... "Aye"

Have a great one!

Posted by Don Hulsey (Member # 128) on :

I have to say YES also.

Mark has plenty of signs that would qualify as SOTM, but he won't enter his own work.

Whadayasay Markie? Can we have this one for a SOTM? PLEASE!!!

Most definately , a yes!!!!

Posted by Glenn Taylor (Member # 162) on :

Absolutely yes.

Posted by Kookaburra (Member # 254) on :

Oh, this is a hard one.. YEP! Dats a pretty sign, Mark.. and you more than qualify, with all of the stuff I have seen that you've done.. Give it to yourself this time. You deserve it

Posted by Ken Henry (Member # 598) on :

Without a doubt...this one deserves that award. Sorry, Katie & Sally, but this one time, your usual impeccable judgement has to be overruled.

Posted by Si Allen (Member # 420) on :

Hey!

Do I smell a "fix"????

Posted by Kookaburra (Member # 254) on :

Huh? It's impeccable this time. It's great. I voted yes!!! He greatly deserves it, he does brilliant work.. and If I'm allowed to vote, I'm going with the rest. He should get SOTM.

Ken: I think you may have misread

Love Katie!

PS, keep up the good work MARK!!! When I visit you, I want you to teach me all dat wonderful stuff you do, ok?

Posted by Kookaburra (Member # 254) on :

Ok, so I'm not old enough to vote.. that's beside the point. So far, it is unanamous anyway.

Posted by Steve Shortreed (Member # 436) on :

2 more votes from our house! We all win here. In addition to seeing a well designed sign, we've learned the how and why of it's creation. It don't get much better than that. Thanks for all you do for Letterville Mark.

hey, thanks folks for the honor!!!
(but it ain't gonna work.) heeheeheehee

one rule i set for myself back when i started SOTM in 1996 was that i would never award myself this award, but you guys have just given me an idea!

how about this...
each month a different Letterhead (whom i will select)will decide SOTM(send entry photos to me and in turn i will send 3 photos to that month's "judge". the judge selects one, then i will notify the winner by mail asking for more details on the design and production.(the photos i send to the judge will have no name attached to it so the said judge will be impartial and vote for the one that has the most "eye appeal"

what do you think?
if you would like to be a judge, e-mail me and let me know.

hey thanks mark matyjakowski, after seeing your work and others who have posted above,
i find your compliments very flattering.

and katie, your vote counts too, because you are a letterhead!

happy holidays heads

Mark, ya get my vote too I appreciate your talent & letterhead spirit, but you just happen to have excellent taste in music too...I call that a well rounded guy

Posted by FranCisco Vargas (Member # 145) on :

Well I was going to say yes to another vote for Mark, but looks like he answered. Anyhow I think it is a Dynamite sign! As far as the idea about selecting another judge, I think that would be great!

Posted by Mark Matyjakowski (Member # 294) on :

Hmmmm....
seems Mr. Fair doesn't understand the principle of a coup.

Posted by Kissymatina (Member # 2028) on :

I'm voting for Mark's sign no matter what the 'rules' are. Besides, I know too many people from Letterville that aren't usually that concerned with rules and laws and all that nonsense.

And, I think we should let the Floridians vote, just don't let them count the votes.

Hey Mark

Since when do you listen to or obey "RULES"

As usual I was listening to you WISE MASTER BUBBA. And now I'm confused. A coup is a coup no matter how you slice it.

I vote for the fearless and awesome Mark Fair for January 2002.

-Your faithful pupil.

It would with me CJ. Enemas! Whewwww....
Look at it this way Mark. You aint putting yourself in as sign of the month. We are. No better deserving work of signage than that which you did for the step by step. Great work by a great person. Consider yourself bestowed upon bubba!

Another YES vote here. Great sign!

Mark

You could put a disclaimer on the page and say we made you do it - that this was a special award awarded by your friends and admirers.

A good and deserving sign is a good and deserving sign.

Go for it!

Mark,
I understand why you don't want to accept this award. It's the prize money ain't it. You think it would look bad if ya kept that fat check, doncha?
I'm here to help ya out, Bubba.
You can send it up here to the northern edge of Dixie and I'll take care of it for ya!

I'm gonna walk on over to the mail box now and wait a spell.

Take the award Bubba, we all want ya to.
Your work is deserving
You've earned it
Ya got it!

Quit being so darned modest and humbly accept the award, youv'e been over ruled!

OK, how'z about if we get someone else to do the write up and create the page.
Seems it might not be fair (no pun intended) to take it over (just the once) and make Mark do the work.
Kinda like stealing someones car then charging them for any maintenance.

Posted by CJ Allan (Member # 52) on :

So lets steal his car, and send him a bill, I'm up fer that....!!

My personal opinion is,
I'm NOT voting for this sign because Mark is a friend (which he is, or because of any "How-To' he wrote, or any other number of "Bubbly" reasons we can all name here....

I AM voting for this sign because,....
It stands on it's own merit, that of good layout, design, composition/continuity, color combination, and most of all........

It Does What A Sign is supposed to do.....
Communicate in a Very Ledgable, Clear, and Eye Pleasing manner....!!
I would know what this sign was selling from a block away, and if I were looking for this particular type of business, I wouldn't be driving down the street rubber-necking and creating a hazard trying to find it

I would vote for this sign, no matter who painted it !!
