hey shep, the paint i used is called Rust Scat Latex semi-gloss enamel by Coronado paint company.
terry, the additive is called Flotrol, Latex Paint Conditioner by the Flood company.
also i use a plastic grocery bags stuffed with paper towels(to give it mass, something to hold on to.)
so when you are in the grocery store and they ask you "Paper or Plastic?".... heeheehee

Great work there Bubba Claus! I really like seeing someones elses techinque for faux marbling. Sometimes I can see it in my head, but can't get it to turn out that way. Thanks for the phone call today also. Been busier than a hairless cat today. Check yer email Bubba Claus.

Very Cool Mr. Fair. Here's vote number 2 for the SOTM.
Another tip I stumbled across is if you want your padded patern sharper is to use the plastic covering that faces new alum.instead of plastic bag. The combo. of thicker plastic and the slight tac hold pad together for sharper pattern.

Thanks for the tips! We did the bag thing on our mural in Cornwall with the fearless and much talented Larry Whan leading the effort.
But I've never seen the marbling lines put over the bag technique. Its very effective!
Just one more thing the talented Mark Fair has taught me.

Here's an easy, fun way to get a marble-like finish - first you need a base coat on your background, dry. Next you paint on your wet base - let's say a middle grey - while it's wet stroke or dab on 2 or 3 more shades of greys - black to white, not thick goopy coats but wet - it can be thinned some with mineral spirits - and now spray on turpentine on top of it, with a spray bottle that doesn't melt in Turpentine. Use REAL Turps, not "Turpetine", or any of the other phony, pretend stuff - you need the smelly old real item here. Some of us love that smell - others HATE it with a passion! If I could meet a voluptuous redhead that dabs a little Turps behind her ears I'd follow her anywhere! Now you can move the board back and forth to make the stuff flow - keep it on a basic 45 degree angle, corner to corner, and when it gets to look the way you want it to lay it flat and LEVEL. Very important, because it will still keep moving. If you wish to add veins I recommend using a feather instead of a brush - any wing feather will do - you don't have to buy a turkey feather from the craft store - but that's good, too.
