IT's winter time here in the GREAT Northern Michigan. Things are Slowing down not much happening.SO I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas on other things related to the sign industry, to help keep things moving here? I all ready offer marketing products but most of the Business around here dont use things like that
any Ideas??

Tis the season and Christmas promotional stuff is wanted. Paint or decorate a few windows. POP signs are great. Banners are good. Fix up the shop truck with a Christmas scene to advertise Christmas specials. You are probably a little slow because of Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

I know you have a lot of hunting and fishing going on in that part of Michigan. Have you ever thought of talking to local taxidermists to see if they would have a market for small plaques to go along with the game and fish they mount.
I see lots of snowmobiles going up and down I-75 in the wintertime. Snowmobilers don't mind spending a little money to customize their rides.
Do the snowmobile clubs maintain a trail network there like they do all across Ontario and Quebec. If they do they need all kind of signs to post along the trail system. Better hurry on this one cause the trails will be opening soon.
January is a great time to contact all the golf courses in the area. They will start preping the course in March. New signs for a golf course can keep you busy in February and March.
How about that elk herd that draws tourists to your area? Anybody...maybe the the State Department of Natural Resources... need some signs to tell people where to find them.
Some years we have sent mailers to the tax accountants and financial planners in late December (right after Christamas) or early January. Over here these firms do a lot of business between the time the W2's ( I think that is what they are called in the US) come out and the taxes are due. They like to have some signs to attract a few more clients to their doorstep.
Have a happy Thanksgiving Glenn.

What is a "Off Season?"
Posted by PKing (Member # 337) on :
This so called "OFF" season could be used to LEARN something new! Hand Lettering Carving Calligraphy Mural Painting Etc. If money is the object you are reffering to as off Then ANOTHER way of making money is called for. Hope this helps

I had a few ideas in the last SignCraft. Henry's discussion may yield some info as well.
