I met with a really nice fella,J. Papenheim, in Fond du Lac WI several months ago. He's been in the sign bs for years and was very helpful with me starting my new bs in SE Missouri. He's the one who told me about Letterville. Mucho Thanksssssssssssss!

Anyway, John P., was using a Fargo printer to print on white vinyl. I can only find fargo printers that make name badges. I guess my main question is what is the most economical printer I can acquire that will print on vinyl? I'm only wanting to start out being able to print on 12" sizes as I think this is what I could afford. The gerber edge sounds and looks wonderful BUT is out of my price league for now. Am I wrong in thinking that there is a regular printer, like a paper printer from Office depot, etc. that will work on vinyl?

We started out repairing signs in our town with our 30' and 40' bucket trucks. We then started getting calls from customers thinking we sold signs too, soooooooooooooooo this is how or sign business started. It's only been about 6months. We have a summaD60 Cutter (Love IT) with corel draw 8 and cocut pro. I like the software just fine for the $ is cost. I guess whatever a person learns on they don't have anything to compare it with to know if it's good or not.

I've got a Fargo Pictura 310s (11x17) which prints on vinyl at 300dpi. I think the "Fargo Primera Pro" (8.5x14) also does. I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore. In it's day the Pictura was about $5000 new I think...I can't remember for sure, but you may find one on e-bay for a few hundred. If that's what you want make sure it's a working one. I've had to do a fair amount of adjusting and tweaking to keep mine going. I use tabloid size vinyl and 3 color resin ribbons to print with. You can also get spot color ribbons.

You may want to check into the Roland Bob's talking about. It's 600dpi and looks like a pretty good machine. The print and cut option would be really nice, however I don't think the software is included for contour cutting.
