I have a Graphtec CE1000-60 plotter and the cutting strip that the blade/pen ride on seems to have developed a visible grove in it. This can also be felt slightly by running a fingernail across it. Is this a difficult retrofit? Seems like it is just a pressure sensitive piece.

I took mine out years ago and replaced it with a strip of sandblast resist. This works well for cutting and pouncing and doesn't require switching material strips. I change it every year if I can remember to.

You can purchase a new teflon strip from Graphtec and it's no problem to replace.
In the mean time, you can peel it out, switch it around, and put it back down, since most of the wear is probably only at one end.
It made a big difference in cutting by replacing mine, recently.

I did the same thing Stephen did, just reversed it on the platen, and I did order a backup from Graphtec so when this end wears out as well, I'll have a new one. Must tell you though, I didn't read the manual of course, and I switched the entire "plate" around before we realized the cutting strip itself was self adhesive.
By the way, do you remember "Stubby" from sign school? Hey, didn't I meet you one time when you came over with Dirk and then we went down to a meet in Minnesota back in 93 or 94? I think you are the same Curt that Stubby went to sign school with.
