Hi Lettervillians...

Is it possible to line a gym floor with vinyl?

I just had a client ask me to quote on using vinyl to mark courts on a vinyl composition tiled gym floor. I have my doubts that sign vinyl
would be durable enough. Has anyone ever successfully applied vinyl striping/logo to a gym floor?

I'm thinking paint would probably work better if it was cearcoated well. I've noticed that normally court lines are incorporated into the actual tiling. Any thoughts or ideas?

I have some advice... Don't do it! lol! We have laid down vinyl on a gym floor but it got clear coated afterwards. I doubt that you will want to do that.

You might want to try using vinyl screen ink thinned out a bit or even try deka. Hell, Butch Anton swears that stuff will stick just about anything... Just a thought.

Have a great one!

I don't know what a vinyl tiled gym floor is, but have striped a few wooden floors.

The thickness of vinyl would scare me away. What about any overlaps? Cleared could reduce the liability. If one kid tripped and the lawyers ever got into it, guess who'd be part of the suit?

It seems like it might be a lot more expensive to do it with vinyl also.

hey marty,
in my opinion this is a paint job only.
like bruce says, most of the time they put a clear coat on afterwards.
seems to me it would be easier doing this job with paint anyway.

masking tape, rollers and paint.

just my op.

good luck buddy,

mark

Hey Marty,

Buffalo Plains has redone a lot of their gym floors and they redid the one in Lumsden. They used 1-Shot to do the lines and I used the same for the school logo. They clear coated over that.
Has held up really well.
