I am sick of the runaround I've received on this..The whole buyer beware thingy is just plain giving me the ***ts !.. I'm tired of listening to sales people that are trying to do the best for me....Ha!!! Pleezzzz !
Can those of you with decent printer cutters or printers please let me know what your idea of the best machines are.. Keep in mind I have a Roland colorcamm PC-50..
I am looking for the ability to do Vehicle wraps, stickers and Decals, posters, large format posters...
with long term exterior durability ease of use, good software, economical purchase price and low consumables costs..
My PC-50 meets very few of the criteria and is a frustrating excercise in futility and expense...

I have a CJ 500 & I honestly don't see any roland machines that'll give you the durability for a vehicle wrap. I'd go durachrome, maxx or get someone with a scotchprinter or a vutek to do them for you.
For stickers & stuff I guess a Roland or any other in that range. But then again I don't do stickers.

FOR VEHICLE WRAPS WITH DURABILITY, SCOTCHPRINT IS THE ONLY ANSWER. FOR EVERYTHING ELSE, I THINK A 6-COLOR ROLAND CJ-SERIES INKJET WILL FILL THE BILL. I seen a Gerber machine for about $40,000 that did everything but the stickers. You may need two machines. One for the big stuff and one for the little stuff. I have an Encad large format printer and an Edge and they work well together.

I have a Roland CJ 500 Printer/cutter. I upgraded from the pc 60 colour camm about 2 years ago. I love the cj although I got off to a rocky start with it having had a head problem which was replaced by Roland. We use it for everyhting from billboards to vehicles. Recently 3M has revoked their guarantee on their overlaminate because of issues with road salt effecting the material. This has caused problems as the prints must be laminated to protect them from the elements and increase their exterior life. We use a liquid lam for billboards. We have done a few partial vehicle wraps. Wraping from the windows down on minivans (see pic). I don't know that I would attempt a full wrap with this material. What I like about the cj 500 is it's ability to be used as a Roland high end cutter when it's not being used as a printer.
I would however recommend looking into the solvent jet printers that are out now which don't require lamination and print on regular vinyl with cheaper ink costs.

Peter, email me signs@emerge.net.au I have a printer laminator combo for sale that I no longer use. I have modified the laminator to hot/cold. I have prints outside that have lasted 4 years so far on this machine and have also wrapped buses with it.
