The Gerber HS-15 plotter that came with the used Edge I bought is giving me problems. I tried to illustrate the cutting problem below showing the cutlines that is does. It will cut perfectly the letters but also cuts the trail lines from one letter to the next. Is it dragging across or actually receiving a cut command to do so? Software or hardware problem?

My instinct tells me its hardware related, not software. It’s been a while since I looked at a HS15, but one thing comes to mind quickly; Is the blade seated properly in the holder? The base of the blade should be tight against the pin. If its not, it will produce similar results to what you are experiencing. Additionally, are the sprockets clean allowing the vinyl to properly seat directly on the rollers and not upon built-up adhesive? The problem appears to be “z” axis related which normally indicates hardware.

Dave... Looks to me like the knife isn't lifting...that's the symptom. What the problem is, I have no idea. Could be either HW or SW.
