Well thanks y'all! I had alot of fun doing this. Started with one idea awhile back, but changed in midstream and I am really pleased with it. I think this is a really good project, and I am happy to be able to contribute. I made a couple more changes to the art after sending Dave the first one, but this is the finished image.
Looking forward to hearing the cd also!

Great work John. Who are the musicians on the CD?

Posted by Dave Draper (Member # 102) on :

Carl,

You asked: Who are the musicians on the CD?

Joe Rees
Dave Ginley
Dave Draper

and we hope to include Mark Fair

History FYI:

Song Painter has been a year in the making. Via this web site's bull board, we found out there are many in the sign business that also are talented and gifted in the musical arts.

So someone suggested it would be a great idea that we all get together and put our music down on a CD so we could play it at Letterhead meets.

As you know, great ideas take a great deal of time and effort to bring into reality, but it worked. Some couldn't quite get it together to contribute for the first CD. We will start on the second CD as soon as the first one becomes available, and we hope they will be able to contribute then.

All were invited to help make this become a reality. The qualifications were that:

1. You had to have been or are currently involved someway in the sign industry, making part of your living at it.

2. The song you submit is original and the lryic be about some aspect of the sign business.

3. It has to be a professional sounding recording.

This would keep Song Painter a very unique creation an make history at the same time.

Remeber how the sign craft folks were very secretive about their craft and did not socialize with one another. A project like this could not have gotton off the ground 25 years ago. Attitudes change and thus neat stuff can happen, like this project.

November 7th 2001 is the final deadline. The songs are ready to be mastered and have already beens sent to Makin' Tracks recording studio in Montanna. Any late additions have to reach them by Nov. 7 to be included on this CD.

No one gets any money, and any money over the amount of production and shipping costs are going to charity. All artists get to keep all rights to their music and understand they are just contributing to a limited use collection.

So, thats pretty much it. We hope we can find many more sign folk this comming year who may want to be a part of the project.

Thanks everyone!

Makin'Tracks Recording studio sounds awful familier to me but can't get my finger on it. Can you tell us exactly who that is and how they are or if they are associated with Letterville ?

Dave, are you any relation to Bob Bond ?
