Fess up! I'd like to hear how much time people spend reading, & posting here.
I just read Sue's latest post on hiring her employee. She writes that she's not telling her employee about this BB or, like her, the employee would never get anything done!
I've been here 3 weeks and I fear I spend a little more time here each day. That might be OK but I felt I was spending too much time here already 2 weeks ago.
It is an improvement over most of the TV I used to watch, so that was OK, but now I'm here instead of working. Everything in moderation. So that makes it Steve's job right?

Doug I spend as much time as I have to on this BB and others that cater to my lifestyle. The morning is my best time and spend about 1 hour on the computer. I am in constant contact with the few friends I have, two of which live in your neck of the woods and another in Thailand. I only work maybe two hours per day on the road so its rare that I'm not home. Night time I am on mirC chat in Letterville which is a great way to stay in touch with those who also post on the BB. Of course it may be a little more frantic there but over-all a nice way to spend the evening.

Okay, you go first. How many hours a day do you spend here?
Posted by Doug Allan (Member # 2247) on :
OK I'll go...I logged on around 10:00 am for a "quick check" I've stopped when I've had customers, phone calls, or (to hide my new addiction) when my girlfriend walks through, but It's 3:00 pm & I've clicked back in frequently enough that my connection has not been severed yet. I probably lost million dollar bid requests that couldn't get through my fax today. I hope the novelty wears off, but so far the trend is hookin' me in deeper!
NOW LETS HEAR FROM THE REST OF YOU!

Doug,
I am here 2 hours a day. That's all I am admitting to
You may have to get another phone line for your fax. It could save money and worry.
Good Luck! It may get worse. Especially when you cannot get on the BB. It also makes you get the computer fixed faster if it breaks down. Or even worse, a bigger, better, faster computer.

I do Studio Work.
My business line is a Cell Phone which is plugged into my left ear. I design, plot, and print the artwork. or handpaint or draw the Graphics.
Computer is always on and the line is programmed to intercept incoming faxs or calls. Most days I leave this site open for over 6-8 hours.
WHY! because I respect the voices of others and the information of (How to Do!) item! I like the fact of see (Or Hearing) others with their day to day worries or achievements.
Nice knowing I am not the only one with problems or I know after the fact someone will say KOOL! Or lend me their ear to reply to a Question I may have. 24-7

Hello Doug..My name is Dave.. I have a DSL connection so I am online whenever the computer is turned on..Most days that is about 16 hrs.
I log onto this site first thing in the morning..I chack my e-mail next and then I go about doing my thing.
On a normal day I probably pull up the BB and refresh/reload it about once an hour. That way I get the latest and greatest posts and justify my addiction by the fact that at any given time I spend no more than 5 minutes on the BB!!!
NOW if I could only figure out a cheap way to hook up my laptop to my cell phone and use NetZero while I am at a jobsite.............GAWD I'd never get anything done!!!!

Don't feel too bad about your addiction. You are not alone. Ever wondered how many visits the BullBoard gets on any given day? Here's a screen shot of the stats since the beginning of August. These figures indicate how many times the BB main page is viewed each day. It may be 8 people coming here 1,000 times a day.

Hey Lettervillians....
The BB is a part of my nightly bedtime ritual. As some of you know, I don't have much of a personal life.(LOL) I spend as much time as it takes to run through most of the new postings which can take an hour or so. Excellent way to wind down.
And I admit that I get a bit of a thrill from reading the controversial topics. Just like watching a fight at a hockey game. Usually good for a giggle. I certainly don't have the time or inclination to engage in them.
If I'm not terribly busy and close to my 'puter, or I'm following a hot topic of interest I'll check in during the day from time to time.
Happy Signing..... Marty

I'm here probably max 2 hrs a day.
That wasn't always the case! BC (before Cody) I was online alot more, chatting, posting every other post, etc. I remember one chat fest I had with Empy, we were yakking about how long we'd been online. I was up to 8 hrs and he was beyond that. Whew, those were the days!
I do remember though, when I first found this board, I felt like you did, wanted to check it every single second. (still do but can't squeeze in the time, so I miss alot of deleted posts... LOL)

Steve, Looking at your calendar was interesting and especially September 11. People came here to vent and be comforted and that's a good thing. I'm on here several times a day, more on the weekends trying to catch up with the week's posts.
I'm a really new resident but I'm so glad to be here and have people who will answer my questions. Yes, we are all different but our main goal should be to help each other through this journey and try to respect each other.
You do a great job and I hope you're proud of what you've accomplished! Thanks for everything.

I read a lot... both on the computer and those paper things you hold in your hands.. um... BOOKS..yeah.. The computer is on all day, and I check the BB often. I have a few other places I check frequently as well. I'm also addicted to chat... altho I don't go to the Letterville room any more. Yes... I do have a lot of "free time"... heh.. business is slow (no wonder, there's very few people where I live)... I kinda like it that way... virtual people, all the fun, none of the mess. Ha! LE

Ha Steve you should put the counter on the Bullboard page I hardly ever go to the main page. I always bypass it and go straight to the bullboard thats where the action is.
Posted by Wayne Webb (Member # 1124) on :
It's my home page, if that tells you anything, and comes up automatically when I log on.
I check it off and on all day when I'm not expecting faxes.

You can basicly "copy and paste" Dave Grundy's reply here. When I had my shop at the firehouse I would log on every morning and shut it down when I left for the evening, checking and refreshing every so often.
Now that I am home based again, I turn it on first thing in the am and it is the last thing to get turned off at night.
Thank God for cable modems hehehehe

Mark....DSL AND Netscape??? Tell me ya use Eudora for e-mail and I will consider ya my "southern" "Canuck bubba"!!!!
NOW..I anm waiting fer a step by step on how to "create" a Dixie mule that won't end up with a broken leg!!!!!!!! LOL
Posted by Mike Pipes (Member # 1573) on :
I've never timed my visits to the BB.. some are short, some are longer.. but I'd day I my average visit is about 30 minutes, with about 7 or 8 visits throughout the day.
My machine is online 24/7 now with a DSL connection and my email program is ALWAYS running in the background, set to retrieve email every 5 minutes. With an online business running full speed, alot of email comes down the pipe so I check the BB in between typing responses.

Thanks to everyone so far for their replies. I guess I feel a little releived that my co-dependent bond to this new family is not way out of the ordinary, at least among the other 20 members above. After a year of putting off DSL, I've been promising it to myself every other day this month. "Might as well face it, I'm addicted to..." Letterville
Posted by Dave Grundy (Member # 103) on :
Not at all bad Mark!..DSL as a connection..coupled with using Netscape as the browser of choice instead of Internet Explorer and the use of Eudora as the e-mail program of choice is the perfect combo!

I wish I could be on here as much as these other folks posted but I just don't have the time yet. I make it a point to check it out late at night. Someday when I get caught up I sure hope to spend more time here. Seems like one big family and it is really cool when you get to meet these bb people in real life at the meets.
I learn a ton here and paying to be a resident is absolutely nothing compared to what I get out of it. Steve keep up the great work here Nancy

Okay, now I don't feel so bad about blowing a couple of hours here nightly. (Usually between midnite and 3) Some of y'all really need to consider getting a life though.

I have developed a weekly 15 point plan for sign makers to reduce their dependency on this bull board. I think we should call it Letterheads Anonyomous. First point is to admit you have a problem and need to do something about it. The other 14 involve work. Commit to sell, produce and install 14 jobs every week. If you are doing that much work you won't have much time to read and respond to this board.
When I get busy, which seems to be all the time these days, I don't even turn the internet on. The only chance I get to look over the subjects on the bullboard is the weekend. I am down to a couple of hours a week. There was a time when I was in here every day for a couple of hours.
