I've got these nifty new fonts I want to install and play with. I download them, I unzip them, I go into fonts, install new fonts. I find and select them. I click on OK. But it's not OK. EVERY SINGLE font I try to install gives me an error telling me there is a problem with the font file or there are too many fonts installed. I deleted some of my fonts and still get the same thing.
Some are the fonts from this site (I downloaded and tried these 3 times) and some are from a free font website (just to see if there was a problem with the download here).
I've decided either my computer hates me, Microsoft is scheming against me or all the font people got together and are in a conspiracy to keep me from playing with cool new fonts (and drive me insane. They don't have much farther to go.)
BTW, I also tried the drag-and-drop method. Same thing.
Anyone have any ideas?

OK Kissy member#2028 Set up a folder of downloading fonts only(The Font Folder) Unzip to it only (Directing fonts to it(The Font Folder)) Open Micro's font window and the folder (The Font Folder) Overlay windows ( Drag and Drop TTY icons only and not the read Files Make sure your drop target is the right one (SignLab or Micro, Flex,Omegia, etc) and this will work. TTY font files will work anywhere.

I opened the folder where I have the fonts and my c:\windows\fonts folder. I tried cut & paste and drag & dropping the fonts from the unzipped folder to the font folder. Still the same error message. Is the c:\windows\fonts folder what you meant by my target folder?

Assuming that you are using a version of Windows that is based on DOS underpinnings (such as Win 95, 98/SE, ME), there are a maximum number of fonts that can be registered with Windows. The limit is not a hard-and-fast number, but generally it’s between 800 and 1000 TrueType fonts. Trying to add more will generate the error that you're seeing.
Once the limit has been reached, the only way to add TrueType fonts is to delete a substantial number (25+) of existing fonts first. Once you’ve reduced the number of active fonts, you should be able to add more.
Another solution is to use a font management program to allow you to switch in/ out fonts.

chris i had the same problem with some of the fonts that i down loaded from here. don't know what to tell you to do. i just gave up. it was nice meeting you at duck soup.

I go to control panels, open it up, and then double click the fonts folder to open it. I then drag and drop em straight in. Never had a problem doing it that way so far. As you click the font to hold it as you drag and drop, once you reach the open fonts folder, the cursor will show a little plus sign that means the font can be added. Terry is very much right. Micky(M-Soft)) will only hold so many styles first. Go in a kick out the duplicates of TTY's or others. But never kick out any that are Highlighted in Red Icons (A) style as they are the systems fonts. Make some space for the new fonts. Posted by Mike Pipes (Member # 1573) on :
Chris, dont you have CorelDRAW?
If so, check the #1 CD for a directory labeled "Fontnav"
That's the Bitstream Font Navigator and as far as font management goes, it kills anything else out there, including Adobe Type Manager.
You can install your fonts into ANY folder on your system with it whether they are Type1, Type2 or TrueType.
Not only that but if you have several sources and locations of fonts, say like a few font CD's and directories on you computer where you downloaded free fonts online, Font Navigator can build a database of ALL those fonts and show you a list. If you pick a font that's on a CD, it asks you to put that CD in so it can read the font and install it.
I have had over 2,000 fonts actively installed within win98 in the past and never encountered a single error even remotely related to fonts.
