We are fairly new to the sign business (1 yr) & after spending our 1st year struggling with a Lynx S60 - just bought a new Summa D60. Excellent performance so far in the 1 month we've had it, but ..... after "twiddling" with various settings I now have problems with the media sensor. I know we could call on the "on-site" warranty but feel this problem may be self inflicted & sure it can be sorted out simply with a little help ?.

The sensor seems a bit "oversensitive", making it virtually impossible to leave it switched on (even on a 25m roll it will show "end of media" half way through a cut !!!

There is a "sensor setup" in the setup but the manuals do not explain how to use this & the only instruction on display is something like "load media half way on sensor" -- it then "rocks" the piece of media back & forth ??

Any ideas ?? This is spoiling a fantastic tool & I'm sure one of you professionals knows how to set it up !

I have a Summa T750. So I am not much help, apart from saying, can you reset to "factory settings" in your menu, and then set your own knife and speed settings afterwards, that way you would get the plotter settings back to normal. Are you steering the plotter directly from your sign software?

Otherwise I am sure Jim Doggett will happen on your post later.

You are close. Turn the sensor off under Media Sensor. Hit the Menu key to System Setup; hit the V key, then arrow down to Media Sensor. Don't forget to hit the V key and put a "*" next to off. Then hit the X key back to the starting screen.

Thanks for the reply. The D60 doesn't appear to have any way of restoring to factory defaults ! I did e-mail Summa a couple of weeks ago & got a reply, but it was really only to tell me how to load the vinyl (not the problem here).

Maybe Jim will chip in, I know he's always very willing to help.

Thanks for the reply. It looks as if your instructions are to turn the sensor on or off, this isn't my problem. I can disable the sensor but this makes it extremely difficult to cut smaller pieces of media, with it on, I get constant "end of media" problems.

It is the "sensor setup" i do not understand.
