Joe I did a search for it on my computer. Not there. I also did a search at Norton's site and no references there either.

I remember a few years back I had a file that could not be removed. It was in my mIRC folder and was the remains of a dead virus. Never could remove that sucker until I did a complete format.

If nothing wierd is happening then just ignore it?

OP, I don't have the file either.

I'd bet it's some kinda SpyWare from one of those free programs that force ads on ya.

I tried a search in general for that file and didnt turn up any hits at all.

try running msconfig from the start run menu and see if you can find where windows is loading the file. IF you can find it, uncheck the file, then you can reboot and be able to delete the file.

Joe - Have you tried shutting down to DOS and then deleting the file?

May work.

Joe,
you might try going into winfile.exe and click on temp. file and find the file you want to delete and click on it and hit the delete. this may work for you. be careful because it does not put it in the recycle
bin it just deletes it from the hard drive.
hope this helps.

How are you connecting to the Internet. Usually a backweb file is a security piece in conjunction with the server. It can also be a program to help customers update their software and drivers. If you're on a Compaq, that's probably it.
