Over the years, we have played around with various polling programs. With so many shops visiting Letterville everyday, a polling booth will allow us to ask the questions you want to know about your fellow Letterheads.

We're trying out a poll I grabbed off BraveNet. It's not fancy, but it seems to do the job and you can't beat the price. It's free!

You'll find the poll on the Letterville Main Page. For those of you who enter the website via the BB, the address is www.letterhead.com

This weeks question is pretty simple. It asks if your shop still offers hand lettering. To make the poll as accurate as possible, we ask that you vote only once.

If you have an idea for a poll question, we want to hear from you. For now, we'll try to leave each poll on for a week. Have fun with this.

The Bravenet Poll doesn't show up when I use IE 5. I'm reading a "done, but with errors on page" message. However, the poll does show up when I use Netscape 6.1.

The question SHOULD be..."DO WE DO HAND LETTERING". My shop "OFFERS" it, but nobody WANTS it. The only painting you see around here are occasional "splashes", and we don't do those!

Looking back, I guess I really wanted to know if your shops USE hand lettering. If a client wants a banner with lettering over 8 inches, I would choose to use paint. Do today's signmakers actually ask your customers if they prefer paint or vinyl?

Like you Steve, anything BIG!I will handletter
Customer doesn't come into play.As much as his wallet does! Most of the time they just want a Sign, leaving how it is done up to me.(Again the wallet thingie)Just finished 2 logo type banners for baseball that is easyer and faster for me to paint than vinyl.
Once again, they don't got no money, and it is "for the kids" It takes me LONGER to stack color for logos. This is a TIME thingie for me.
hope this helps

In the overly sophisticated market of
Mississippi the clients rarely show any
preference. I use my own discretion.

if that's alright with gary anderson
and r.t. thomas!

I use strictly vinyl, unless the customer specifies paint, whioch I try to talk him out of.....vinyl's a lot quicker, and it's dry right now, and ready for pick-up NOW!

My Vote is with Steve.

After a certain size of lettering I rather stroke the brush then turn on the Plotter.

Customers think it all in the same anyway!
(Banners,Plywood,Alumilite,

There is only one area I'll ask if they like paint or decals...
And that their personal transport.
Cars,Vans,Motorcycles,Boats,Etc.

Only because the new owner or buyer may not like the painted graphic on it.
Cost factor is higher to remove and redo.

I expect we'll see more responce to the poll come Tuesday. After all, it is a holiday weekend in many countries. We'll leave the current poll on for the week and try to have a new one available every Monday.

That brings up my next question. What sort of questions do you want to see on the poll?

Hmm, well if size matters, then I guess I'd have to say anything under oh, say, 3/8 of an inch or Helvetica of any proportion I'd as soon send out to a sticker head...
