Hey, hi. Steve here from www.yourvitalsigns.com

Just a general knowledge question for all of you. Every last friday of the month myself and fellow business park neighbors have a cook out in the parking lot. Good times. How do YOU unwind? take care,

Steve

Depends........

Normally I kick back in the couch potato mode and watch sports on TV, hopefully Drag Racing.

I may also take the kids to the park on a nice day.

And if Im real lucky there is a letterhead meet.

I used to do alot of fishing, but sitting in a boat all day really takes its toll on my knee and back, also my fishing buddy is not able to go to often anymore either, and its his boat!!!

Drink beer, shoot pool and tell lies... I mean stories.

But that's only for Friday nights. The rest of the time when I need to unwind or just take a few minutes, I go up into the living room, sprawl out on the floor and play a game somewhat similiar to fetch with my weener (whiner) baby.

I used to unwind by riding 4-wheelers with the guys, but I sold mine to buy a new one, then got too busy to think about a new one. Ah, maybe next year. There's something relaxing about being stuck in a mudhole up to your butt....

To relax I like to do all nighters in the shop just so that I can have time to myself. Then the next day you realize that you have about relaxed yourself to death! Did it last night and now I can't go to Friday happy hour and relax with all my friends. Seriously though, I find water the most relaxing thing on earth. I'm blessed with a pool, so in warm months I just go into the back yard, put on some tropical music, (Buffet-extreme escapism) have a beer or margarita and jump in. Every muscle in my body relaxes and I feel renewed. I also love boats. Get on the water alone, and I'm in heaven! Guess I'm just the typical crab. My sign is cancer.

Hi Heads,

Baseball, coaching 10-12 year olds the game of baseball, that unwinds me.

Some of funniest stuff happens in a baseball game with kids that age playing. For instance:

Cameron hates outfield but I hate it more when I put him in the infield. A ground ball hit to him in the infield will go right between his legs before he realizes he should try to stop it, or better yet, catch it in his glove.

So I put the little tike out in left field the next inning. A fly ball is hit right at him. He doesn't even flench a muscel as it comes right to him. Then with out any warning or movement on his part, his arm comes out from nowhere and the ball lands in his mit! The rest of his body is still motionless....funniest thing I ever seen, and I still laugh out loud every time I remember that incident.

Well, every game there are those kind of funny moments. They are priceless.

Like this one:

The opposing team was at bat, my son was catching. Kid comes up to the plate. The biggest spider we ever saw comes crawling out from under the home plate.

It crawls up the batters shoe, he looks down, looks at the pitcher, the picther is ready to wind up, the kid looks down at the spider, looks back up at the pitcher, the spider is now on the kids knee! The ball is pitched and the kid jumps a mile in the air trying to get away from the spider.

We laughed till we cried! hahahahahaha

I think I could write a movie script like the "bad news bears" with all the funny stuff that has happend on that baseball field.

Dipping in the hot tub with my son, watching a rented movie with hubby, puttering out in the garden, sneaking in some magazine reading when my son is happily playing in another room, taking my son to this awesome nearby playground/park where there's loads of walking trails and interesting hills to explore.

My time isn't exactly my own yet, but things are improving. My horse is patiently waiting for me.

Brian, I have a R100RS (for the most part).
I bought it new in '78 as a /7 and converted to the fairing, pan seat, '84 40mm heads & carbs and dual front disks. I have S bars on it and am installing a 81-84 Brembo brake system with the handlebar master cylinder with calipers on the newer sliders. Converting to mate with the existing tubes is possible but doesn't use the newer dampening rods so I have some new tubes made out of chicago on the way. Looking forward to some serious stopping power now after 160,000 miles. Do you have a beemer ?

Rosemary,

I can't play a lick of music but dittos on the reloading and shooting. Our range is an hour away and between the drive there and back and the target shooting itself, when I get back to the house, I'm all "stress free". Also, if you really want to have some fun....go hit a bucket of golf balls. That works too!

Not yet. Got a bimmer but no beemer yet. (To those confused, FYI, a beemer is a BMW motorcycle and a bimmer is a BMW car.)

1st bike was a 1980 Suzuki GS450, then a Honda Shadow for about 4 years and last year had a Ducati Monster Dark 600 for 3 months. That was a fun bike. I was offered what I paid for it at the end of the riding season so I took it. I'm buying my first home this week so the toys are on hold for at least the next year or so. I love the R1150R but its going to be a while before I get my hands on one.
I lettered some BMW motorcycles for a dealership that sold them to a local hospital (1st response units) and got to see a bunch with 60k+ miles on them with original engine internals.
