Does you business impose a "rush charge" on orders, and if so, how much, and if not, why not? Thank you!

I rarely charge a rush charge. If it's a good customer, and it usually is, I can usually rearrange my schedule assuming rush means in 2 or 3 days instead of a week or 2. But, if someone wants it "right now" meaning I work late or a Saturday, them I quote them a price that includes a rush charge.

You better believe it!

Remember the old saying: "Your screw up isn't my emergency!"

My "rush charge" can vary from 10% to 100%... it all depends on how much of a rush and if it's a good customer!

I dont get too many rush orders but when I do the charge ranges 30% to 100%, depending how much of a rush it is and what kind of job and if the customer is a jerk.

In the end though, I don't guarantee any set completion date/time cause ya never know when something's gonna go wrong.

I have a sign hanging in my shop that reads:

"Poor planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part"

If it is a "Rush Job" then I price according to the job and how fast they need it.

I have learned....

Every job is a rush job, since that is the only job the customer is concerned with...

Consider the things you may have to put off to complete said job, birthday parties/family functions, what price can be put on the loss of these?

I charge accordingly, the more forcefull the customer is about needing it done, the more I charge, have even raised prices in midstream due to aggravation of some customers, with fair warning.

Get YOUR price, charge for YOUR time, and YOUR inconvenience. Never let them think they are doing YOU a favor, no matter how slow you might be

Used to. Not since I found some customers going elsewhere. In this town customers expect some loyalty. When I did this they felt no obligation to come back. I was just like everyone else. Customer service is number one in our books. Most of the time it is something simple.
