Well, we didn't get Bob Harper to the International meet (since he couldn't get transportation to Kansas City to get his plane) and as most of you know I got stuck with an approximately $230.00 bill on my credit card (haven't got the bill yet) for Bob's unused airfare. However, thanks to the following people (in no particular order) I will have recouped my costs (less my own donation) and will be sending Bob a check for about $150.00 (as soon as my bill comes) to do with as he wishes.

It is my sincere honor to know each and every one of the following Letterheads:

David Butler
Roger Bailey
Ray Chapman
Cam Bortz
Kent Smith
Jill Butterfield
Pam Eddy
Jon Himes
Chris Elliott
Rob Larkham
Pat Neve

As many of you know, Bob is up there in years (he turned 81 on July 29th) and certainly has someone who wants to take his money for who knows what. So I hope this donation helps in some small way. He certainly does appreciate our efforts and "counts his blessings for knowing so many generous Letterheads - you are all so wonderful". For a man who suffers from macular degeneration of his eyesight, he can still paint better than most of us. Let's hope that his eyesight gets no worse.

Maybe keep this in mind: If Bob ever needs more of our help and generosity, remember that the sign business is much more lucrative these days than it was in Bob's. Since he is considered a bit of a legend in our profession, and if he needs some assistance in some way later on, maybe we could be there again for him. We can spare some change, can't we? This attempt to get him to the International meet certainly proved so.

Again, on Bob's behalf, thanks for your compassion and respect.

Jay

My only regret is I didn't get to meet Bob Harper. I think it would have made a a wonderful addition to an unbelievable letterhead meet. Jay, thanks for the old college try. Bob is fortunate to have you as a friend!
