Now that Christopher Skase is safely a pile of dust many aussies may feel just a little bit vindicated. For what he did to the small people he may as well have been a murderer. What goes around comes around. Like the little icon I chose for this message - Bye Bye Chris, you won't burn anyone ever again.

Christopher Skase was a high roller inAus. back in the 80's around the same time as Alan bond. He bought up large companies such as the national television station and other things like that. He built the Hyatt Mirage Resort in north Queensland and then because of his own lifestyle bagan to get into money trouble. He eventually ripped off the shareholders and absconded to Spain, where he pretended to be too sick to travel back to Aus. to face the courts. He very cunnungly packed up his Rolls Royces etc. and shipped as much as he could to England. Meanwhile he began siphoning off money to his family (whilst living in a mansion in Majorca) so that he could say he was broke. In the 80's as a cruiser was being custom built for him by a firm which later went bust because of him, leaving ordinary people with nothing, his wife was having Orchids sent in from Singapore for her dinner parties. He died this week and from what has been on the TV news here no person in Aus. is shedding too many tears. I would have thought this sort of news would have been shown in the US., after all just this morning I was watching what was happening with the heat wave over there, which goes to show that we know more about you than you know about us!!
Have a good weekend Joe.

Hi David,
You know, you are quite right. We don't really hear a lot of news out of Oz and it's really a shame. A lot of folks here love Australia and fantasize about going there someday. If they only knew how inexpensive it really is for us to visit there I bet a lot more would jump at the chance. It seems we are kept in the dark here about a lot of things going on worldwide. Hell, we are kept in the dark about things going on right here in our own backyards! Case in point,I lived in the Great Smoky Mountains area of North Carolina off and on for almost 20 years. When I was here(Mississippi), I almost never heard any news from that area and vice versa. The only way I could keep up with what was going on at home when I was away was the internet. Maybe Australia needs to push themselves on us a bit. I know the people there love to see Americans bring their money down there. I have had the pleasure to experience a small bit of OZ myself and I can say that it was an experience that I will never forget. I want to be back there again someday soon. You have a great bunch of folks down there.
See ya,
R.T.

Hi David
I blame the media for a lot of went on. Skase was an ex journalist, and the financial writers made much of that, perhaps hoping some of the prestige would rub off on them.
Long past the time any sensible person would have sensed skulduggery Skase was still getting good write-ups.
I've always wondered if anything happened to the person who signed the OK for Skase to leave Australia

You want more exposure??? This guy was certainly a jerk but he just stole money. He didn't shoot up a restaurant full of people or burn a building. Frankly I don't want the eyeballs of the world looking at my home town. That is when the crazies start showing up. Let us grow peacefully and in silence. Best to be the best kept secret, not the best kept secret that everyone knows about. Our jerk of a Prime Minister has just invited the G8 for a summit next year in a small resort town in Alberta. (The same summit that just occured in Italy) Every nutbar in the world is going to descend on a very nice, clean little resort and destroy the place. That includes the police and the activists. You can take your world exposure and focus it somewhere else so far as I am concerned.

Yeah, Skase is one heck of a thief. What amazes me is how Italy was so hesitant to extradite him.

As for the G8 and the anarchists (groupies) who follow them, send them here to Wilson. Maybe the anarchists will destroy enough windows and signs to give our little micro-economy a boost!
