Hi, Where can I get instructions on making proper post size, depth in ground, ammount of concrete etc. based on square feet of sign face and height?

Sign Structures and Foundations by Peter B. Horsley is what I use. Its available from ST Publications (Signs of the Times) www.stpubs.com for $24.95 but you might also try Amazon.com.

I just finished a job a few weeks ago where the sign is 30 feet to the top. To get the permit I had to have an engineer stamp on my drawings. I took my figures from the book to an engineer and he told me my figures were right on the money. It cost me a $100 fee to get the stamp and be told, yup, it's OK. Good thing it was a $7000 job where the $100 didn't run me into a loss. But I learned a lesson. Depending on zoning and local regulations, you might have to go to an engineer, but the book will still give you enough info to put together a quote with peace of mind.

Good luck.

HI,
Thanks Dave. A friend sent me a chart called
Sign- a - Mate with revolving wheels to determine things. It says all figures are based on a 35lb/square foot wind force. What
is this in MPH?
